Good day! My brother's sputum test was negative but he had pneumonia so he was prescribed antibiotics, we still have to wait 2 months for the culture result but my mom wanted us to schedule his interview now (August 2017) so he can get a slot by the last week of October, bec if we wait for the culture, he will be scheduled by December so we took initiative and we're hoping for the best that he's negative.

Now our problem is, we've been calling the embassy for 3 days and they're saying that they don't have available dates yet but that doesn't mean the whole month of october is already full, they just don't have the schedule. I just don't get it. What does it mean? Also they said that they're not sure when they will have the schedules. This is one of our dilemmas bec we really want him to be scheduled by October. What can we do? Did anyone ever experienced this?

Nope October isn't full....   the October appointment calendar isn't available yet (they should have told you this on the phone), probably won't become available until the middle of September.

Okay so if we call by September we can get the october schedule? I thought if we call by then we'll get the November schedule already.

Hanks right they only open one month at time till it's filled but at best it's usually somewhere in the middle of the month before they open a new month. Remember you only get two cancellations before you are charged a new appointment fee plus you have to wait an additional 90 days before scheduling.

Don't reschedule the interview so early on. There are lots of applicants who cancel and reschedule each day thus resulting in new open slots.

I too was flagged for sputum and I only rescheduled after confirming with SLEC that I'm on the clear.

You can only reschedule 2x and you pay a new fee if you exceed this. So be very careful.

This is our first time rescheduling. We cancelled his appointment for July 2017 due to the sputum test. Mom wants us to schedule as soon as possible bec if we wait until the results on october, his interview will be scheduled by December, so we'd wait another two months for that. His results for the culture will be out by October 16 and we're all rooting for him to be clear so our Mom wants his interview to be scheduled now so that we wouldn't wait another 90 days.

Highly unlikely you would end up with a December interview date.   Don't judge interview openings by the interview date you got from NVC .. not the same.

When will SPUTUM be complete (60 days)?      You could very likely have an interview date from 2 - 4 weeks after that (with 2 weeks, or less, being more of a reality).   Other people cancel and early date do show up also.

Why would you wait 90 days?

You should wait till he is cleared at SLEC. Once cleared book is interview appointment.  You can get a date a few weeks after and your still on track.  I think you are dragging this out and you will end up on the short end of the stick. Sorry. Just my opinion.

Alright. Just afraid that we might get a later schedule. Didn't know we can schedule a week/2weeks after he's been cleared. Thanks!!

That's just a typo. It should be 60 days or two months, sorry for that.  If you want to schedule your visa interview and you call by septe, your date will be by November

No. Not true at all. You can pick a schedule as long as it is available. The 60 day waiting period is for the culture result. You shouldn't even worry about the schedule as slots open up due to cancellations and rescheduling all the time.

You should anticipate the culture result. Getting a call from SLEC before the 60th day means a positive culture result that requires 6 months treatment. You cannot leave for the US without finishing the treatment. It is preferable to do the treatment with SLEC since your medical would have expired during treatment and you'll have to do it again. Getting treatment outside SLEC will ban you from doing the medical with them for a year. It's ridiculous but it's their way of pressuring people to do the treatment through them.

The result could most likely be negative, like mine. If that is the case, sit back and relax. Use the 2 months to gather all the interview requirements. When the 2 months is up and no call, you will be given by SLEC the clear to proceed. You can proceed with the vaccination. Note that the queu at immunization area is based on result. They call those that have clear X-rays and other tests first then call those who just came back for immunization i.e. the ones who were flagged for sputum. It took me 12 hours to get mine. I was there from 8:30am(was told to come at 9am) and finished by 8:30pm. Another thing to note, since they will only release your vaccination record to you and forward the results to the embassy, it's best to schedule your interview before going back to SLEC but only if they indicate that you are clear. You can get the schedule that is at least 3 days from the day you complete the medical to give SLEC ample time to forward your result to the embassy.

My advice is based on my own experience. Take with a grain of salt if you might. You can always do your own research.
