It depends from which country the beneficiary is applying from. Some country citizen's are eligible for VWP.. (list of country in this link https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/visit/visa-waiver-program.html) .These citizen's have no problem in getting b2 visa while i130 is pending . 

For other countries citizen's there is no chance of getting b2 visa while your i130 is pending for approval. There are slight chances of getting approval after i130 is approved and moved to NVC.That is what I found from people who have posted in online.

I checked this link and it appears to be broken. I get a 404 if i click on it. For anyone who wants to find out which countries are included in the Visa Waiver Program: I found this website to be quite accurate and up to date. There is also a nice little tool where you can select your country and it tells you right away if you can participate in the program and apply for an ESTA.

If you need some other information, they have a good collection of links to the official government websites.

Hope this helps others looking for the same thing.

anyone from Feb 2017 got their approval? I heard from some other forum that Jan 2017 are getting their approvals.

 

My PD is Feb 3rd 2017 for F2A category, but I became a citizen now and I updated my information in I-130 which might have changed to IR1 category. What will happen to on going process.

 

Any idea?

Since your category is changed to IR1 - spouse of US citizen , and your priority date is earlier than the IR1 category ( currently IR1 is processed for sep 2017) submit required documents to uscis and it will be processed in priority. Your interview might get  scheduled in a month or two. You will be entering usa in couple of months..All the best!

My PD is 3 March 2017 and still no approval. PD will become current next month. I submitted an inquiry for outside of processing times but they answered with "we are doing everything we can to process your case blah blah". And since I am abroad , I have to wait for the approval. (California Service Center btw)
