County Judge, in his eminent wisdom, decided on mandatory/voluntary evacuations as of midnight last night,  man.

The major river will go 5 feet over its banks, and several levees have to be released, thus flooding the tributaries.

Judge estimated that 35% to 40% of the county would be flooded.

Residents learned about all this just this morn.

Two "levee improvement districts" (LIDs) were under mandatory evac.

No clear advice was given on how to tell which LID one lives in.

No advice was given on whether streets are unflooded.

No advice was given about shelters until one was full and one became inaccessible.

People were having to consult several different websites to figure out where the dickens they were & how to leave.

 

Our rental casa is in the mandatory-evac zone and might get flooded or experience sewer back-up.

Our regular casa should be OK but might be an "island" for 2 or more days.

 

Mama T-B. was under mandatory evac.

She was scared intestinal-wasteless, naturally.

It took us almost an hour to determine which roads were open for the 3.5-mile drive, grrr man.

It's been raining hard and blowing gusty winds since before sunrise.

She made it to our casa in one piece (or as few as possible).

Then, Mini-B. fell down our stairs and hurt his ankle.

Then, my loquacious cousin called and would not shut UP.

 

As long as the casa stays dry and there remains a power innage, we remain luckier than most.

If it would quit raining, the stiff breeze would at least partially dry out some of the water.

Mrs. T-B. has just fully inflated Mini-B.'s large pool for potential use as a raft.  It's inside the garage.

Now we couldn't get either vehicle out of the garage if we tried,  man.

Well, our luck appears to be running out.

Right after last message, the power innage failed for about 90 minutes.

Nonstop ferocious rain since at least sunrise; projected to last at least another 36 to 48 hours.

City has reduced pumping power to protect their precious levees.

An hour ago, intersection at end of our block was covered with rainwater.

Now, street almost to our casa is covered with water.

If water doesn't enter the casa by tonight, I'll be surprised.

I'm following the news every day overhere in the Netherlands. I'm so sorry for everyone who is going through this. TBoneTX, I don't know how you do it man. But it sounds like you have to get your family out of there if possible.
