Still good TV coverage on abc13.com and fox26houston.com, see man.

 

I'm very impressed with the work and intrepid activity of the several visiting TV reporters from around the country.  They probably came to serve their own stations with live reports, but they're also relieving the doubtlessly exhausted local reporters*.

 

*many if not all of whom deserve Emmys or whatever award applies, si man

Heard on a neighborhood group that National Guardsmen at the municipal airport had food but needed sodas.

Mini-Bone & I took a couple of cases there.

Mini-B. got to meet two U.S. Army privates from Utah and demonstrate his finger-spinner to them.

The spinners are quite good, but I saw a news report about a youngster who got his finger stuck in one and had to have the spinner cut off.  This is certainly a very isolated incident.

Hey all, 

 

Decided to head to Austin on Tuesday morning. We made the decision after I was called by my friend who was trapped in his house by water in the streets. I tried to reach him via 4 different routes but all were blocked by water or by the police who were turning people back. 

 

On the way back home, this Dodge truck passed me trying to go through but stalled in the flood water. It took me and 4 other guys to push this truck through knee-deep water to where the tailpipe was no longer in the water and the engine could be started. The grateful driver then drove through people's gardens to drier ground. 

 

Since this community is next to ours (Great Wood) and we're still waiting for the Brazo River to crest, we decided to leave for Austin

We didn't leave until we knew our buddy would be rescued by the emergency services. We head back to Sugar Land tomorrow. I hope everyone else is safe and thank you for the messages I've received. 

 

PS We have a friend who lives in Germany and she mentioned that the "Texan Way" has been wide spread on the news over there - no doubt. "Texans helping Texans" and how this is an example to the world. I agree 100% with the latter but don't forget that Houston is one of the most internationally diverse cities in the country and we've been helping each other irrespective of the nationality.

 

Everyone affected are constantly in our thoughts! Be safe...
