It mystifies me why the TV stations need to have reporters standing on awash seawalls, lurching in hurricane-force winds, being pelted by horizontal downpours, saying stuff that we can't hear because of the loud roar.  Time now to go witness more of same.

The thing made landfall at Corpus Christi exactly at 10 o'clock.

The only way to tell -- she must whip up some enchilada casserole post-haste. If the resulting burps and gas don't smell like oreos, we have our answer.

I feel for those in Texas.  It's been a bad few years, storm-wise.  Be safe out there to all of those stuck in the storm.

These weren't Oreos, but rather like Cheap Ahoy, as Mrs. T-B. would call them.

And enchiladas aren't made in Ecu that I recall.

But she is the culprit, along with (to a lesser extent) Mini-B.

It is time to go aysheep or to get more, and hide them myself so that they won't disappear similarly.

Mrs. T-B. [frustrated]:  Cheap, CHEAP!  I bought you CHEAP!

Further investigation revealed that she had gone to the store and bought me a bag of potato cheaps, si man.

It rained like an illegitimate male child overnight, but I somehow slept well.

 

TV weatherman says that, unlike regular summer showers that are fueled by the heat of the day and then dissipate at night, hurricanes store this energy and then "exhale" at night, which is why it can rain more at night.

 

Several southwestern 'burbs of Houston had tornadoes with damage overnight -- fences, roofs, siding, brick.

 

Much of today was rain-free.  I took Mini-B. out to inspect the damage on our street (chiefly twigs/sprigs, and larger branches from diseased or older trees).  We collected acorns, and Mini-B. put these in the curbside runoff and watched them wash down the storm sewers.

 

However, this is not over yet by any means; the infernal himmicane will double back.
