Hello everyone,

I travelled to the US with my parent in Nov 2016 for 3 weeks with a Tourist visa. I met this guy at the park and we just talked for a while. In April 2017, I took a break from my job and decided to come back to the States to visit for 2 months, as there are certain places I haven't get a chance to visit last time. I have a round trip ticket and I will be working for our family business when I come back to my country.

Accidentally, one day I met again the guy, (who is my husband now) and we exchange number, we see each other often as we could, we talk on the phone and I got to travel and visit places I have planned. He went back to my country for a holiday as planned for 2 weeks, and he was spending time with my parents and family. When he came back end of the month, he proposed to me. I accepted. Although it's fast, we feel that we are ready to build a family together.

We got married last week in a courthouse, only the 2 of us. I haven't met his parent yet but we will be going to visit them in a few weeks.

I have several questions:

1. We are filing for the AOS, but as I read stories, it could be an intent to get married as I am on a tourist visa.

2. What are the documents that we need to be prepared as proof? For now, we only have the marriage certificate, our photos.

3. He wanted to add my name to the lease but couldn't be as I do not have a Social Security number so we have to wait before we could do that. Is it necessary to have?

Please help!

Thank you,

Intent is determined at port of entry (border and customs).  Since your intent when crossing the border was NOT to get married and stay to adjust status, you are fine (I adjusted status in the US after crossing on a tourist visa and then getting married as well).

Joint utility bills, joint credit card statements, joint car payments, joint health insurance, photos with each others families, letters/cards addressed to the both of you congratulating you on your marriage, joint bank account statements, invoices with both names for large purchases, joint tax filing, etc.

It's not necessary to have---my name is still not on the lease after 12 years of marriage.
