Yes, exactly.  Honesty is always the best option when dealing with immigration authorities.  Misrepresentation can result in very serious consequences. It is perfectly legal to file for a CR-1, then make trips back to the US for visits.  Just be aware that any entry into the US is subject to the discretion of the admitting officer...You should always be prepared to provide evidence of your intent to return to Canada and your ties to your country.

There is no fixed timeline. But I would just suggest caution here as this line of questioning about potential plans to change your mind after entry is bordering on illegal activities. You can't intend to have a change of heart/mind after entry.

I would suggest you take a look at the guide pages of this web site to get a good understanding of the process.  Many people successfully file for a CR-1 visa without the help of an attorney.  However, even if you hire an attorney (we did), this is an outstanding resource for knowledge about this process.

Get married file a cr1 and unwind have a problem visiting as long as you show a job and ties to ur job. I know lots of border town marriages and it was very simple as they could continue to visit. Small chance they wojld deny u. Usually that happens with ppl who don't have a job or they show up to the border w a car full of clothes ect

Couple things (I had a similar situation - I am a USC and now-spouse is a Canadian citizen).  We went with IR1 approach and filed the I-130 a few days after doing a court marriage in the U.S. We did not do it in Ontario because it takes like 2 months to get the certified marriage certificate back which would have delayed our filing of the I-130 and starting the IR1 process.  In my county in the U.S., we got the marriage certificate on the spot.  She came here and we did a court marriage (they didn't ask the purpose of her visit).  Then she went back and I filed the I-130.

OK does she continue to visit you as you are waiting for your interview? The other issue is visiting for another year vs staying in the us and filing.

Yes she continues to visit the U.S. (VISIT, not STAY).  You can visit on an IR1/CR1 visa but may be asked at the border to show sufficient ties to your home country like return ticket, existing lease or job, etc. So she brings this proof with her each time she comes but as of yet has never been asked.  If you want to stay in the U.S. then IR1/CR1 isn't the route for you and you should do an AOS perhaps.

Staying in the US would be illegal (either by not filing AOS and overstaying, or by planning to enter and file AOS). You can visit while waiting for the CR-1/IR-1.

People do enter the US with no intent to get married, then as you say out of the blue decide to get married.  It is legal as they had no intent when entering.  If a person comes on a social network site and discusses plans to actually enter for purposes of marriage, then if they do and stay it is of course fraud.  I realize it is a fine line and relies on the intent when one enters the country, but based on what you have been discussing where you plan to enter, get married and return you should be fine.

Agreed, since the OP has already been public stating the plans to enter and marry and return.
