My Iranian fiance was told to expect 3 to 4 months of administrative processing at the conclusion of the interview in Abu Dhabi. The interview was this month (Aug 2017). A 221g was provided with nothing but Administrative Processing checked on the form. Within an hour or two after the interview the embassy sent an email requesting additional information about all social media accounts, phone numbers, and email addresses used in the past 5 years. The names and birthdates of all siblings were requested as well. Any one else receive a request like this?
Also, were you told to expect a response in 3 to 4 months at the end of the interview? Is this realistic? I see in the forums that other Iranians have been waiting 300+ days to clear AP.

Thanks!

It's not uncommon for applicants from that region to be asked to provide all those details. They are gonna conduct a thorough check probably to confirm that he's not linked to any bad guys or something. 3-4 months sound like a decent amount of time but definitely be prepared for AP beyond that timeframe if they are not done with the checks. Keeping my fingers crossed for your fiance and I hope his visa gets issued in a timely manner.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

I think you are referring to the form DS-5535.

I did mine in UAE too but my interview was last January and there was nothing like this.

The truth is, this is not given to all applicants. This is actually the Consulate's decision if the applicant needs to undergo more scrutiny.

There were already cases in the Philippines that they were sent a form via email or given the form right after the interview to fill out and the case some reported that their case is still under AP even 10 days after submitting the form back to the Consulate.

The form is called SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS FOR VISA APPLICANTS.

If a consular officer determines that a visa applicant warrants this additional scrutiny, the applicant will be instructed to provide the following information on Form DS-5535:

  • Travel history during the last fifteen years, including source of funding for travel;
  • Address history during the last fifteen years;
  • Employment history during the last fifteen years;
  • All passport numbers and country of issuance held by the applicant;
  • Names and dates of birth for all siblings;
  • Name and dates of birth for all children;
  • Names and dates of birth for all current and former spouses, or civil or domestic partners;
  • Social media platforms and identifiers, also known as handles, used during the last five years; and
  • Phone numbers and email addresses used during the last five years.

There is really nothing you can do about this but provide what they want.

As for the 3 to 4 months of AP, I haven't heard of that before. I am sorry, I don't have any idea. :(

Hi guys

Can you give an update?  Hope you're finished!!

October 2011: Met in Spain

2012-2014: Video chat + visas + visits and vacations = we made it through!

June 2014: Moved to Spain, got engaged

December 31, 2015: got married

April 20, 2016: sent I130 package

May 2, 2016: package received in Chicago Lockbox - - - 12 days for delivery!! Don't use TNT couriers!!

May 2nd or 5th, 2016: email NOA1... accepted and sent to.... NEBRASKA

And now.... breeeeeeathe..... be like water my friend....

October 26th, 2016: NOA2 [We had waited almost 6 months. Received notification from the phone app, never got an email.]

November 9th 2016: USCIS sent the petition to NVC (app notification) [waited 2 weeks after approval for this]

November 25th 2016: NVC received and created account for our petition [waited 16 days after USCIS sent it, for NVC to acknowledge receipt]

Dec 1st 2016: Chose agent online DS261 [a few days later than it could've been since the above NVC email went to SPAM!]

Dec 6th 2016: Case available for paying fees. That was fast, I think! 5 days!

Took a long time to get package out because... life... and husband's family in Morocco had to travel to get police document.

Feb 20th 2017: Scan date at NVC, received weird email.

April 28th 2017: CHECKLIST. Moroccans are required to send a Court Report regardless of Police Record status. My husband had to go back to Morocco to get it in person. Also, NVC wants a 2016 tax return now that is 2017. My bad.

September 15th 2017: 2nd Scan Date at NVC. Sent for document review October 20th.

Nov 10th 2017: Email requesting document be brought to interview. Will schedule interview.

Case complete date??: TBD :clock:.... November 8th!!

Interview date : January 18, 2018!!           Result: Administrative Processing      :mellow:

Embassy called for new medical last week of August. New Medical Sept 10.

Visa ISSUED September 14, 2018. :blink:

we were only in AP for about 7 days... I don't know if we were lucky or just very prepared (probably both)

I have been told that women have an easier time getting through than men do......

I am also very happy we went to Armenia as the Persian - Arab tension did not play a role in our case.

I wish you well and hope we continue to have success in our path!
