So about our RFE.. We got a call from our attorney and she said that she got a letter from USCIS for our RFE. We need to write a letter explaining how we met, how my fiancé proposed, how many times he visited me etc… Also we need to attach his airline tickets, passport stamps, photos and other proofs of ongoing relationship.

Does anyone have any idea how long will it take to get the answer from USCIS after they get our response?

Thanks a lot

no one knows for sure but we had a 4 page RFE asking for everything including death cetificates of both dads and all family in US

it was a 25 pound package and it was sent out 4th Feb (this was in 2010) the entire package was never looked at as all went to NVC on 6th of February (day after they got it)

Goodness this is a sad situation! All of the information your attorney is now asking you to provide should have accompanied the application when submitted. It is too bad that your attorney didn't advise you of the complete requirements then so you wouldn't have lost so much time. Good luck to you.

Wasn't that in your original submittal?  Did you give any proof?  I believe they respond to RFEs rather quickly.  I thought I've read that responses are usually within 30 days and some are completed in just a few days after receipt of additional information.

  1. We did everything from the very beginning while filing. My fiancé visited me twice by that time. We had all the proofs and submitted them but our case was pending cuz of the security check which took them a year and 4 months to be cleared which is really frustrating because there was no reason for that to take so long!   After that, on 15th of August we got the RFE. I guess they need proofs of ongoing relationship cuz it’s been more than a year of waiting after we got our NOA1. Thanks a lot for your response. I appreciate that

Why didn't your attorney send in all of this information with your application?  This should NOT have happened to you!  My guess is once you've sent in everything, you should get your approval within 2 weeks. Good luck!!

I hope you are right! Thanks for givinig us hope! Our attorney send all that information before, but I guess after waiting more than a year for that security check clearance they need more proof about ongoing relationship! So I hope you're right! And after we send the response, we would get an update soon. Best of luck to you too 😊
