Hi,

I am in Aus for two years for my Masters degree and recently applied tourist visa to visit my brother, it's been hold up for six montha in AP and recently been updated roughly after six months once since the creation of the case in feb 2017 until about a week ago.

Any idea what is going on? I am from Pakistan. I got same automated reply from Melbourne consulate when i ask for status update.

The only way to know for sure is to get a real response from the embassy (not exactly easy, I know), but it's most likely going through mandatory security checks. If so, there's not anything you can do but wait.

Given there's no petitioner for a tourist visa, I don't think the typical route of contacting a senator for a inquiry is available (not that it makes it go any faster anyway).

AP can take years, a few weeks/months is moremore normal.

A congress person enquiry will only come back with what you know, you are in AP.

So You mean these updates on the cases aren't done by the consulates or embassy ? I know few people who applied after me the same visa class got their visa very next day and for one after 2 months AP in Melbourne.

Does any previous rejection really influence this procedure?

Previous rejections would influence getting a B, AP is a personal issue.

B visa.

All you can do is wait.

So when consular said to me your visa is approved but need AP it means the influence of my previous rejections is been totally mitigated and this AP has nothing to do with those refusals ? Its independent of my f and b rejections before.

No it does not mean that. Your previous refusals will most certainly influence the latest application.
