Wouldn't it be better to just take the naturalization certificate from the oath ceremony along with passport forms and take them to a local post office? I feel like that would save some time and be a lot less hectic.

Probably, bear in mind some post offices require appointments for passport applications.

A alot of USPS facilities are now letting you schedule appointments online via usps.com. You can schedule upto 30 days from the current date.

Yes, but you still need to do it. It wasn’t clear if previous poster thought they could just drop by their local post office with the forms.

You can fill out the complete application, what you will need to wait on is actually signing the form.

Once you have completed the oath ceremony they will "swear" you in for the passport.  Make sure you sign your Naturalization certificate along with your passport application.  Place both of the signed documents inside the yellow envelope you got at your interview and rush to turn them in.  The line will get very very long FAST! and individuals do get offended if they see you cutting.

What I did was I had a family member line up for me before the ceremony ended, or they can collect a yellow post-it from the passport individuals (in this post it you will write your name and the amount your check is for).  You place the post-it on the outside of the yellow envelope/completed packet then drop off.  This is how they did it when I attended my ceremony on 9/6/18.

Congratulations!!! You are almost DONE!

Thank you so much  for reply ZeeXo.

Yes, I am really glad, it is nearly done!

I am doing all by myself so no pre-inline for me.

Yellow post-it is like the one we use at office stationary? Should I bring from home or must get it from there?  Where do I drop off? Is it like a box or something?

May I know do they check the application and photo for us like correct or not if I do in-line up?

Sorry for many silly question!

Thank you again!

***I understand I can do at local post office, but I prefer oath ceremony because I don't want to mail the certificate or lost at post office. I heard a lot of horror stories. It is just my preference. Thank you everyone!

No Problem,

To respond to your questions:

The Yellow post-it they handed was not a regular one.  It was printed but all it required was Name and the check amount.

Drop off.  You actually hand in your application/packet to a person.  There is no drop off box.

I just told them my application was complete and handed it.  No verification of any kind.

If you have questions, you might want to line up and ask a representative.  The form is simple, just remember to sign the form and certificate,  include your check or money order place everything in the packet and you are good to go.  I also added a copy of my ID if they needed to verify anything else.  I just felt safer adding this, it is NOT required.

Any time! I understand, I felt the same exact way.  It's a personal preference. 🙂

Interview Experience

Had my I-751/N-400 combo interview today. Drove in & parked at 555 Jackson. We were about 35 mins early, got in the building, went in to the second floor and at check-in got the passport application right at check-in. We waited about 30 mins in the waiting area and an officer called us right at time.

Once in his office, he swore us in. Our 1 month old was traveling with us and officer was extremely nice. He asked for ID & Interview letters, asked for GC, but I told him the InfoPass officer in Sacramento kept it when they gave me a I-551, so he prepared a statement for that and had be write that down, then he signed and gave me a copy.

He asked date of marriage for us and then asked where we live. He started going through the application, asked the 50 questions (flew past them real fast). Didn't ask for any documents, we do have 2 kids. Asked if I had travelled this year, noted that and then asked if I want my wife to stay for the english and civics test, I nodded.

Read:

How many states are in the United States?

Write:

There are 50 states in the United States

Civics:

What is one thing you promise when you become the citizen if US

Who is Governor of California

Who was the first president

What movement ended racial discrimination

Who wrote declaration of independence

What is rule of law

Then he jokingly asked, Who won the World series :)

Then he said, congratulations and off we went.

Start to finish the whole thing lasted 15 mins!
