Finally, there is the SF thread. I filed the Application for Naturalization in April and did fingerprint in early June. My case has been in line for interview since July 27. I still haven't heard anything yet. Is this normal? How long do people usually wait for the interview letter in San Francisco? Thank you.

Same here, there are a couple who applied at the beginning of April that have their interview notices for late December/early January.

I am predicting my 18th April application will result in a late January to mid February interview.

I don't think pending I-751 prevents you being placed in line. I have seen some applicants went to their N-400 interview with I-751 pending. Sometimes background check can take quite a long time.

My biometrics were pretty much instant during AOS and ROC - so not sure why they would take a long time this time around. Either way - I called USCIS multiple times during the past two months and they've been saying that NBC requested my file from CSC and are waiting for that before proceeding with background checks.. Now, CSC did not seem to send the file to NBC and instead adjudicated the application. Not sure this means they still need to get the file from CSC or thats no longer needed since I-751 is approved...

No, luckily my I-751 was approved before I filed N-400 online. I am already in line for interview though. Maybe your background check is already done, NBC is holding your case for some reason. Usually case will be sent to the local office for scheduling interview after the background check.

Ok, I called the USCIS call center..

The lady said my background check came back August 23rd (just days after Biometrics), but my file has not been forwarded to my field office because I had I-751 pending and NBC requested I-751 from CSC to complete the file and send it over to the field office. She doesn't know why CSC didn't send it over right away and waited until they approved I-751. She said that the I-751 file is now in transit to NBC. She also told me that they wouldn't send the full file to the field office until they've been able to schedule an interview - but the field office is backed up so that might take some months.

I don't know how to interpret what she is saying as I was under the impression that once the file was complete, NBC sends it to the field office for interview scheduling.. Anyway, for some reason CSC decided they didn't want to send my file to NBC and instead adjudicated my I-751, then sent it.. so it explains why I'm not in-line, because the file is not complete. Once they receive the I-751 from CSC, it's complete and ready for scheduling.... I guess..

Just went to the SSA office, without an appointment, here in downtown SF to update my info.  Office opened a 9:00AM and there was already a huge line when I arrived.  Went through security check and signed in at the computer kiosk to get a number.  I was called within 15 minutes and left the building at 9:20AM, they were so fast.  I will receive a new card within 2 weeks, because my old SS Card said it was only valid for work with INS approval.  Now only Global Entry left to update at SFO.

Anybody changed their legal name through court before the interview? Since SF doesn't conduct judicial oath ceremonies,  I changed my legal name through court and updated all the documents except my Chinese passport and green card, just waiting for the interview to bring the name change court decree so they can put my new name on the naturalization certificate. Will they conduct more background check after interview with name change?
