Hi all,

Question about applying for passport.  Apparently you need to send the original and copy of Naturalization Certificate which you will get at Oath Ceremony. how do you take a copy at the Oath ceremony location and apply for passport at the same time? Assuming i can do that some way and apply for passport at the oath ceremony location, how long does it take to get the passport? Is it faster than applying at post office?

One of my co-workers had her oath ceremony back in September. She handed over the application to the passport officer post ceremony and got her passport in 2 weeks.

I’m assuming that since the application is directly handed to the passport agency (authority), there is no need for a photocopy, unless there is something onsite.

 

I have scheduled an appointment on the same day with USPS just in case photocopies are required. That will buy me enough time.

I did my oath on 11/07/18 and I was pretty busy since then, but I would like to share my experience with all of u.

If your oath is in Paramount Theater, don't ever drive there or go super early.

My home to theater supposedly take 35-45 mins and I purchased SpotHero parking for few weeks before. So I was so sure! 

On that day, my oath was 9:15 am so I drive from SF @7:30 and I thought it will be more than enough, no, no,no! I was stuck in the traffic, the closer to the Paramount Theater, the worse! A lot of people came to ceremony and stuck right there! After passed all traffic and reached to parking lot, but they don't accept SpotHero , just because it is ceremony day. I have to pay $25 and have to called SpotHero after that. (Thankfully SpotHero credit me back$25, even though ticket was $15 when I purchased it.) When I finally reached entrance, it was 9:30. The rest is fine and easy.

I prepared my passport application ready so I didn't go to queue. I just write on the yellow paper(which they gave)and stick to the envelope and gave to the people who is helping others where to go for passport -queue. It take me 1 min only. Except the traffic problem, the rest is smooth.

For extra info, I took my passport photo using "www.idphoto4you.com" like someone suggested and print @ cvs- cost 96 cent. It was perfect, I got my passport after 2 week later, got 1 day behind Neutralization paper which they don't send together with passport. If you plan to use the website like me, make sure the photo are really bright/white because it came out darker than photo from your phone and have to reprint it. Hope these help for future citizens! Thanks Zwa. I and few others have Oath Ceremony at Hayward City Hall this Friday Dec 14th so looking to see if any one has experience with that place.

Thanks hsetin. I just booked an appointment for 1:15pm and one i could find. apparently all the other slots at multiple locations close to home are booked for 14th.

Had my Interview today. Went really well. Really friendly Agent. 

First reading and writing test via IPad.

Then civic questions:

1. Who wrote Declaration of Independence

2. Name three original colonies

3. What two major parties exist in the US

4. Name a state that borders Mexico

5. What party is the current president

6. Can't remember

 

Then spent some time going through my application and updated information (travel).

 

Received a print out at the end that I passed. Waiting for email confirmation. Once I have this I will update time line.

I wanted to update you all that I just got the interview rescheduled notification today. Not sure when the exact date will be as nothing has been updated to the document tab yet. But I assume it will be a month from today per the usual pattern. I wrote to the state senator and my local district congressman to intercept regarding my November interview cancellation so maybe that's why it got rescheduled quicker than I thought. I'll make sure to keep you all posted for updates!

I was scheduled to have an oath ceremony, but I was out of country for four weeks and missed it.  

 

I tried to re-schedule one, but never heard back from USCIS.

 

Is there anyone with experience for scheduling an infopass?   I tried to schedule on, but it shows that San Francisco office are not accepting walk-in requests or scheduling InfoPass appointments.

Glad to hear you got rescheduled. I know the feeling. Time to study!

Has anyone been rescheduled for the Oath ceremony that got canceled on Dec 5th ? Please let us know if you get your reschedule notice / notification.

Got rescheduled to January 16th. I got noticed last week. It’s frustrating, but at least it doesn’t overlap with my trip in Europe
