Hi all,

I hope you can tell me your experiences and help me with my question.

Well, Its been more that a year since I sent my N-400 application. Here are my dates and process:

Sent application - 7/28/16

Prints - 8/20/16

Letter for interview - 12/21/16

Interview: 1/23/17

Status online changed to: Oath Ceremony will be schedule- 5/23/17

as of today, I am still waiting for the status to change online. I had a name change, I am wandering if that is why is taking too long to have my oath ceremony. I'm very anxious. What do you recommend me to do. I called to USCIS to have information last month and they said that I have to wait until my status changes online. I'm doing all the process in Chicago by the way. Any recommendations? I will appreciate your help. Thanks!!!!

It seems a long wait but first I would recommend you find out the dates for upcoming judicial oath ceremonies in your district. Name changes can only be done at judicial ceremonies since it requires a judge approval. Some districts hold only a few judicial ceremonies per year, which might be the case for you. However, if it turns out there are frequent judicial ceremonies, it is time to check what is going on. USCIS customer service line won't be too much help in this case. Either do infopass or ask assistance from your congressperson to contact USCIS on your behalf. You could also do a service request but it usually takes long time to get a response.

USCIS customer service reps can only give general info----call back and request to speak to an L2 immigration officer and tell him you have yet to receive your oath ceremony scheduling...they can view your actual case and give you more info/push it forward a bit.

Sometimes you have to press the customer service rep a bit to transfer you to a L2 (I think they get in trouble or something if they transfer too many calls a day, maybe that's why).  Just keep insisting politely that you would like to speak to an L2 officer.  If they refuse to transfer you, hang up, and call back and request it from the next person who answers the phone.  Most of the time, though, they will transfer you over.
