Do ladies have to pull long hair behind ears for the passport photo?

I'm taking mine tomorrow at CVS to bring to my interview (in case they won't accept the one provided by biometrics, as I've heard happening to other people---if they do accept the bio one, then I'll use it for my passport so no money wasted).  I'll post back about my experience there.

The last time I had my pic taken at Walgreens for my AOS, I looked absolutely horrible, Walgreens created a look like I'm about to do something nefarious.

Well...got my passport picture done at CVS yesterday...

 

Was told to tuck my hair behind both of my ears, and when I asked if I could smile, was told "you can without showing teeth, if you really want to, but they (the passport people) don't like it."  

 

I opted not to, just in case.

The ones from my local CVS always come out horrible.  My kids, my young children even look like sinister convicts in theirs! I always say that there is a total gap in the market for "glamour" passport photos.  I would happily pay $50 for someone to cover me in makeup and then take my passport photo according to the required standards

That's why I get my passport photos taken in Turkey. Professional studio work, they spend time adjusting lighting, posing, size it for 2"x2" US standards, and dunno why but they even photoshop moles and pimples; usually costs around $10 for 12 photos. Not that I need 12 passport photos but that's the minimum they sell. Here you pay $15 for 2 photos and you feel lucky if you don't look like a serial killer.

I took U.S. passport pictures at home for over 50 shots with different clothes, and pick the top 2-3 photos to polish on photoshop. and brought the best one to Walgreen for printing, $1,23 total.

 

all you need is a entry level digital camera, and white bedsheet or professional studio white backdrop (from eBay or Amazon,etc). 

 then you can take pictures as many as you want, as good as you want.

IT'S FREE AND YOU CAN CHOOSE THE BEST ONE YOU LIKE, AND YOU CAN RETAKE ANYTIME.

Hi. I take passport photos at my part time job. The rules we have posted are

 

• no hats/head coverings (except for religious reasons)
• no glasses
• you can smile, but do not show your teeth
• hold head in a straight forward, neutral position (don't tilt up/down or to left/right)

nothing about ears being visible; nothing about jewelry being removed.

showing teeth with a natural smile is ok. showing teeth with open mouth, not ok.

My passport photo shows teeth. I just told the photographer to just take my picture. No issues at DOS.
