Fiance in a country outside his home country

I was wondering how many people out there have had their fiances go to interviews at a consulate in a different country than their home country? My fiance is from Cameroon, but has been living in Germany for the past 3 years under a student visa. His consulate therefore would be Frankfurt. Has anyone had any experience with this, or does anyone think this could be a problem. Do consulates have a problem processing papers from someone not from their country? I just mailed off the I-129F this week, and his visa expires at the end of this year, so I am ferverently praying that everything goes through before he would have to go back home. If he did, would they transfer his papers to Cameroon, or would we have to start all over again?

Thanks for anyone's thoughts

We did a third country case--no problems for us.

Take into consideration that my DAH is from the UK and we processed through Athens Greece.

Your fiance will need to show that he's got permission to stay in Germany for the coming year (6 months from when NVC gets the case, typically).

When I met my husband, he was a student in Netherlands studying abroad from Nigeria. I am thinking that you should be ok w/ everything, everything took about 7 months w/ us from start to finish (applying and interview)...relax and just have faith...all will be ok. We applied July of last year and had interview in JAN of this year...have a blessed day

To Blessed to be stressed:) I realize that all things have a purpose and a time.....have faith and the Lord Almighty will provide... when the time is right, he NEVER fails!

David is a British Citizen but was living in Germany when we met. His interview was in Frankfurt. No problems.

Jen

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

My hubby is from Ghana but has been living outside for many years and had his interview in Athens, Greece! So as all the vjers who posted on here...there was not a problem..in fact, i think if they have lived outside of their home country for some years in another country..this works more in you and his favor cause it shows the embassy that your loved one has acted in good faith everytime he was issued a visa in the past!

The longer it takes to introduce yourself the less you've actually accomplished

I know of two separate cases with Cameroonians. One had to return to Cameroon to go through the process, but it was fairly quick. I think it was because the VISA issued for that European country required it and the K1 took longer to be approved. (He later came here and transferred his credits towards his Masters) The second one went Frankfurt. However, if he does return to Cameroon, they ask for a police report from Germany and every country he has lived in since being a teenager.
