Thanks---I also filed from Queens as I see you did...can you give a little more details on how the interview itself went?  Waiting time, security, etc.?  Are cell phones permitted inside the building (I know some places don't allow it)?

I also have a prior arrest outside of the US from 1993...made them aware of it during my AOS, and again on my N400 application.

Well 1st of all I must say that my IO very polite.. "well my interview".

The IO is gonna go through the interview and you need to get 6 correct before they reach to the 10th question. Once you get your random 6 correct the IO will let you know if you pass or fail. After passing the civil test the IO is  gonna go trough the application page by page. If you make any mistake the IO  will correct it in red ink. If you make more than 10-12 error the IO will tell you to fill out a new application back in the waiting room. (I didn't have too). After the interview IO will tell if a decision can be made or not right there and then.

About the the cell phone..I was able to take it in the interview. Also I don't think they care about arrest outside the US but if you got arrested in the US you have to let them know and even if you don't they will find out.. my interview took place in  Holtsville NY.  My advise is just be prepared with all your info and memorize your application

Have you attempted to talk to a L2 officer?

Nope I haven't given a try speaking to L2 officer. But what I did was sent an inquiry on June 5th and got a reply via email:

"USCIS systems indicate that your case is awaiting an interview. Your local USCIS Field Office will contact you once they are able to schedule the appointment. Should you not be contacted by your local USCIS Field Office within 90 days of this notice, please contact customer service at the number provided below."

and havent heard anything after that. Just waiting on the 90 days to be over. Or should I try contacting uscis and try speaking to an L2 officer?

Actually I myself wasn't expecting this to be so long because I have to travel for a month in December with family. So filling in December 2016 made me feel I have more than enough time for the whole process to be over including the passport process. But believe it or not as I'm getting closer to December without even yet being interviewed is kind of freakin me out.

I would, if I were you.  Don't speak to the regular USCIS customer service rep---request to speak to an L2 officer.  It can't hurt to try.

Everyone has different experiences calling and requesting info from L2 officers, of course.

Personally, I called and requested to speak to an L2 the day after I filed my application, which I got transferred no problem--left my number and got a call back from an IO about an hour later, and he was tremendously helpful.   USCIS always says "you've got to wait until such-and-such time" to talk to an IO, or phone to get a status update...truth be told, I think I've talked to an IO a total of 5 times so far since July.

Again, wouldn't hurt to try---the worst they can tell you is to keep waiting...but the best they can do is give you more info on your case, too.
