I have received the appointment letter for fingerprinting and EAD . Will I get the EAD card that day??? Anyone from Houston had an experience or can tell me how long it took to get teh card if it's not right away???

Tks

You wont get the card right away. The info gathered at biometrics will be sent to the processing center and they will continue processing. Usually takes 60-90 days.

Biometrics in Houston was sooo easy. less than 10 minutes total time. The hardest thing was finding the place. We thought it would be in a government building of some sort. it was in a shopping strip mall.

The day after Biometrics, the aos was transfered to CSC for processing. Someone else (I can;t remember his name) from Houston had the AOS interview scheudled just 3 months after mailing off the paperwork. So Houston seems to be a good place to be these days.

Good Luck!

yup, look at my time line;)

Good Luck Sven! Your time line makes me jealous. Our AOS was transfered to CSC and now we just wait. I would love to have a interview date!

You realize that since your case was transfered to CSC, you probably won't be interviewed - right?

Yes Becca I do. Thanks for looking out for me. I just meant that being transfer to CSC means no word until the approval comes through or RFE or transfered back to the local office. It might mean an early approval and it might not. Since Houston is giving some people interviews within 3 months of mailing, I am not convinced tranfered is a good thing. Getting approved without the interview isnt really that important to me. In fact I think too many people think its better to get the green card without the interview. The transfer is good only if I am one of those people who sails through more quickly than waiting for the interview. Who knows if I will be one of those? All I can do is wait. But then, I should be well prepared for waiting at this stage :P

The biggest hold up is always the FBI name check. I doubt that your case would be processed any faster than CSC even if you went to interview.

What I am trying to say is this- Take name checks out of the equation. If Houston is scheduling interviews 3 months after mailing the appilcation, then our interview acould be scheduled by Mid-June and we would receive notice of that date some weeks before that. With the application at CSC, there is likely to be no word until approval. Will that be faster than the mid June time frame for houston? only time will tell.

If you take namechecks out of the question, there have been people who have gone from submitting the AOS to having it approved by CSC in ~60 days.

Here's hoping
