Putin's getting just as tired of the "winning" as everyone else.

Seriously, who couldn't see this coming. Putin's link to Trump is based on one thing, the belief (or hope) that sanctions would be reduced or ended. When it became obvious that Trump has no control over that, what does anything think would happen?

It's not like Putin has a natural affinity for the Republicans. Russian media was insane over the possibility of Romney or McCain winning previous elections. It's not rocket science. Putin wanted something. He didn't get it. Trumps base should watch closely, they're going to know that feeling.

I would agree there.  I wonder what made everyone think that Putin wanted Trump in the WH to begin with?  Ideologically speaking, Putin appears to be a bit more Left of Center wanting more government control, etc.  Russia itself is still dealing with ending Communisim, but anyone that thought this would happen overnight was a bit naive.  Economic or political ideologies do not change by the flip of a switch.  In my world, I am wondering how this might impact my application for a new Russian visa next year.  So far I haven't heard of any issues, but who knows going forward.  I do know when I entered Russia this past Sunday, Immigration and Customs was a breeze at Yemelyanova airport in Krasnoyarsk with the exception of the lines waiting for baggage and customs screening that everyone including Russian citizens had to endure.

If it wasn't for the sanctions, Putin would probably have been pulling strings for Hillary. Obama seemed to be well liked in Russia until the situation with Ukraine and Crimea. After that, Obama became public enemy number one, and of course Hillary was part of that team.

Agreed.  So far I have not encountered any political discussions during my trip, but I will be here another two weeks (almost) so we shall see.

As well as ties to Fusion GPS which is closely associated with the DNC.  What is your point?

Haven't forgotten, but the main point is, all things being equal, Putin would probably favor the Democrats. He did in 2008 and 2012.

I agree he didn't like Hillary, but had it been someone like Romney running in 2016, there really would have been a dilemma in the Kremlin.

My main issue going forward is we should take whatever steps necessary to keep Putin out of American politics. Regardless of whether he supports Democrats or Republicans, he is not doing so for America's interest.

I totally agree I think that ALL foreign influence needs to be out of our election process, but first it has to start with us doing the same thing. We have been interfering in other country's elections for a long time and we need to stop.

Russia has tried interfering in US elections for many years and yet only upon the whim of a conspiracy over a lost election does this even get traction.

Crazy people doing crazy things.
