If your father is a permanent resident na then he should not worry about it as of right now, also it has not been voted on in Congress yet either. It is called the Raise Act.

Also where in NC are you from? I am from in NC as well.

Once again I dont have two accounts

Are you, then, of no account?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I don't think the OP would be asking about the RAISE Act as I don't see a clause that limits permanent residents from becoming U.S. citizens?

I think she is because there is alot of talk going around how it is going to limit ALL IMMIGRATION and not let in ANY Immigrant. I have had to explain that to a couple people to set them straight. I had to set my coworker straight this morning because my coworker who hates Trump was saying how this bill will limit immigration and no immigrants will be allowed in at all.

ok thanks he just want to make sure and understand when he applies for citizenship will he be affected about this raise act.

Does the RAISE Act stand a chance of being passed anyways?

Trump supports it, therefore I assume there's an automatic filibuster in the Senate by Democrats.

Basically he can still file for citizenship if it's available for him, which alot of people are doing right now because of not knowing what is going to happen immigration wise. The Raise Act is just a bill right now and hasn't even been acted on by Congress, so it could still change quite considerably.

I have assumed that as well. It's funny in my book how the Democrats want immigration reform, but as soon as an idea is floated they hate it right off the bat.

Both side's have been talking about immigration reform since I was old enough to vote. Do you think either side in congress really want's it, and if so what has stopped them? Republicans and Democrats have both had a super majority at least once that I can remember, I'm sure there has been more than that. That should tell you something.

Your memory must be better than mine, although I've only voted since 2000. Can you cite for me the last Republican supermajorities?

I recall the Dems having a few decades of supermajorities in the Senate under various Presidents from both parties (huge swaths between 1930s and 1970s). I don't recall any Republican supermajority since the 1800s.

In some ways I fear a Republican supermajority, but at this point, can't see what more harm it could do than the Democrat one under Obama. I also think the legislative filibuster's days are numbered regardless.

What's even funnier is that one party heads all three branches of the government and can't get anything passed. Or maybe pathetic would be a better word for it.

This is true and it pisses me off to no end.
