Packet 3 help please!

My Thai fiancé lives in Bangkok and has received the packet 3 from the Embassy. She has done the DS160 online and the GSS, gotten the single document, has police check in the works, and paid for the visa. We're both confused about the next step. We need to get the interview scheduled but how do you go about it? She has to send some documents to embassy for packet 3 but what exactly does she send them? I read the instructions but it shows all the things required at the interview. You have to send all that in for packet 3 as well? Any help would be appreciated. We need to get this interview scheduled ASAP! Also, if any Thai ladies that have been through all this would talk to her in Thai about it, that would help. If you send me a private message with your Line ID I could have her add you so you can talk. Thanks!

Prior to receiving the Packet 3, did your fiancee receive a letter saying that it (the Embassy) can begin to process the visa case?

Here's what mine received the other day:

Dear Name,

This office is pleased to inform you that it can begin to process your fiancee visa case/  Please read and follow the enclosed instructions carefully.

When communicating with this office either by telephone or letter, please provide your name and case number exactly as shown on this letter.

Sincerely,

Chief, Immigrant Visa Branch

Encl: Fiancee K1 Instructions

She says that the only other thing in it was the 129F that I filled out.  Not sure if it's my original or a copy.  It does have the Approved stamp on it.

Nevermind -- She has packet 3.  I think she had a brain fart when she told me that was all they send her.

Dakota, so did they include a complete copy of the 129F with Packet 3?

I sure wish they were not sending out our confidential information like that through the post.   I blacked out the SSN and other info prior to scanning and emailing to my fiancee.

I think I can answer this.   Last week my Fiancee received the Packet 3 letter in the Post and it included a photo copy of the I-129f (only the form as filled out by myself.   Supporting documentation and evidence was not included in the Packet 3 mailing.)   It was interesting to see the marking left by the USCIS adjudicator.   You could tell that certain questions are of special importance based on what questions were checked off.  (I did not receive any RFE's, so I passed their scrutiny on the first try.   But the items that we commonly see RFE's issued for were the ones marked on my I-129f.

To directly answer your concern, the SSN is not masked on the copy sent.

Ha!   Yeah, the govt is not very cautious with that critical data.   Hey, can you enlighten us on what seemed to be important to the reviewer?

Ah, it was the usual suspects...   Questions relating to Marital Status were checked by the reviewer along with confirmation of country of birth and citizenship status.  The question asking about previous filings of the I-129F was marked as well.  Questions relating to the Beneficiary... birthdate and marital status/history were checked off.   They confirmed that I answered that I had met in the previous 2 years and did not meet through a marriage broker.   And the criminal questions were checked, and lastly they confirmed with checks that the form was signed and dated.

I am not sure if the checks are indicating that my answers were verified against a separate source (database), or only that the checks were made so the adjudicator could show proof that they reviewed (i.e. looked at) the responses to the questions to ensure that my answers did not outright disqualify the petition.

My fiance' also says she got a copy of my i-129f but no "Packet 3 Instructions". She's certain that there was nothing else in there except the cover letter and a few yellow pages with domestic abuse resource information (in Thai).

The Packet 3 instructions are online so we're proceeding as if they had been included, but it is worrisome that they were missing - and also that the cover letter had no signature for the "Chief, Immigrant Visa Branch".

Has anyone else run into this and, if so, did it cause any problems?

This is 100% normal.   You have nothing to worry about.

The instruction sheet included in your Packet 3 mailing should direct you to refer to the website for details on your submission of Packet 3.

Further clarification, the "instruction sheet" is a 1/4 page strip of paper that states:

"All visa packages and required forms can be downloaded from the immigration Visa section of the Embassy's website.   Please read and follow very carefully all of the K Visa instructions located on the Embassy's web site at: "

When the embassy mails the letter or first pack out is the address in Thai lettering or English ? My scribble on the application of the countries address in Thai was most likely wrong or off a lil bit.

So what I'm understanding from the info in this thread is that the Embassy in Bangkok will mail my fiance via snail mail my I-129f paperwork including the evidence thst I submitted along with the petition?  Along with a small sheet directing her to the American Embassy's website for the actual packet 3 instructions?

The mailing my Fiancée received included a cover address sheet, Instructions to refer to the website for Packet 3 preparation, and a copy of my submitted I-129f form.   Additional documents I submitted with the original I-129f submission (Evidence of Citizenship, Evidence of meeting during the prior 24 months, etc) were NOT included in the mailing she received.
