hi!

I wanted to know if I can complete the DS-160 before actually receiving the documents from the embassy? I have all of the info from the NVC (numbers etc).

Thanks!

Amy

A DS-160 can be filled out at any time and be saved or submitted. The DS-160 itself only asks for your USCIS receipt number which can be found on the NOA1 and NOA2. The only time you need any NVC info is when you update your UStraveldocs profile and/or schedule an appointment :) All the best!

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Yes, the tourist/visitor (B1/B2) visa is a Nonimmigrant visa, and Fiancé (K1) Visa is an Immigrante visa. The website have a different color (green immigrant  and Blue nonimmigrant) so yes she needs to apply again.

K1-

Jun/08/2017 - NOA1 - Received text/email

Nov/30/2017 - NOA2 -  Approval date

Feb/27/2018 - Interview - Approved

Apr/13/2018 - POE

Apr/27/2018 - Wedding

AOS-

May/22/2018 - Package sent -

Jun/11/2018 - Package rejected due to incorrect Fee

Jun/21/2018 - Package sent (again with the correct Fee)

Jul/08/2018 - NOA1

Mar/27/2019- NOA2 (interview scheduled for May 1st)

May/01/2019- Interview - Approved

May/02/2019- New card is being produced

I did, soon as NVC gave our number :)

Sorry for the delay :) Did you run into any issues with your confirmation date being different than your appointment letter date?

Sorry I'm being thick today, confirmation date?

I completed the DS160 as soon as the nice person at NVC gave me the LND number, I printed the page and added it to my small mountain of papers.  No one at the embassy was concerned with when I completed it just that it was A) mine and B) all the details were still correct (they would have changed them at the embassy)

hope that helps & good luck :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

According to the USCIS the K-1 is a nonimmigrant Visa.

K1 is nonimmigrant visa with immigration intent.

When your petition is approved and forwarded to NVC and then the embassy, it is treated as an immigrant visa.
