Have you seen the nonsense to getting ROM.Its not quick. We thought it was optional. Perhaps it is a requirement. This is a learning moment.

It is optional if you want to get a passport in the married name

We decided to go with the ROM so no matter what happens, the Phil gov (known for red tape) has a record of me/can produce a document in my married name.

Thanks, the person checking her ticket  told her that. My wife has our Marriage docs as well but I dont know if it was requested.

The person at the ticket counter is wrong.. must be new.. need to contact the airline and raise H3LL.  That ticket person was running on OPINION not fact.

I know of a fair number that travel with their maiden name in their passport and different name on their green card.  They carry a copy of their marriage certificate

The issue here seems to be that it doesnt seem that  the GC holder had her marraige certificte with her... she needed to carry documentation proving connection between thentwo names.. or am I missing something?

Yes she had her marriage certificate with here, but did not present it from what I gather.

I really appreciate all the answers.

Hank, you think its authorized to fly with a renewed passport that doesnt have the ROM? Do you think she has to have anything from CFO renewed, they told her at CFO she doesnt get anymore stamps. I will get her to call the airport and get confirmation on this, sounds like she got screwedunless there is a requirement.

Thanks

No she needs nothing from CFO once she has her green card.. CFO seminar/sticker is for exiting immigrants only .. green card negates that.

Seriously I think you wife got a dummy at the ticket counter, sort of - she should have asked about being married.    And yes your wife should have produced the marriage certificate to the ticket agent

Sadly from my experience Filipino's are so used to this kind of BS that they tend to accept it. They just go along so they do not make a scene. I have been teaching my (future) asawa not to accept that kind of #######. Ask for a supervisor and if you do not get the results you want ask for their supervisor. Never accept the first no. Keep pushing until you get the answer you need.

I feel bad for you and hope it all works out in the end.

I agree with Hank on this one. I would definitely raise hell and demand a that they issue a new ticket with a new date.

Yeah I have finally got my asana doing the same thing as well. My best guess is that she never offered up her marriage license and just took the first answer she got. So she ought to go back and raise Cain.

As far as I know it was not requested or shown.

Therein lies the issue.  Don't wait for them to ask.  Her green card and passport don't match.  She must immediately produce the marriage certificate.  Don't assume the ticket counter person knows, understands, or would even think to ask for it.  Why your wife didn't produce it and allowed herself to be denied her flight is quite a mystery to me, but easily rectifiable.
