DS 260 mom visa

Hi everyone, 

 

I need help to fill out my DS 260 form for my mom . 

When my dad was student in 2001, she asked for F2 visa but the embassy did not accept it. 

She has 3 stamps on different dates : 12 august 2001, 18 oct and 21 oct 2001 saying Application received. But she does not have any STAMP stating refused or anything. 

 

I am quite confused what to answer to this question : Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?

 

Yes or No?

I'm not sure what "the embassy did not accept it" means. Did she file a DS-160? Did she interview?

No I am US citizen, and I am sponsoring my mom. So I am filling the DS 260 form. In this form, there is a question : Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?

 

For that question, I am confused because in 2001, she asked for an F2 visa and the embassy did not accept it but the embassy did not also put any refused or Revoked or Cancelled stamps on her passport. 

So I do not know what to answer. 

 

Do the embassy put any stamp for Refused , Revoked or Cancelled on your passport? or sometimes they don't ? 

 

Hope I am clear now. It's hard to explain because even my mom do not remember it a lot. :-/

You can fill it out, but she must still review it and sign/submit it (it's her visa application, not yours).

 

It sounds like she applied for the visa but it was not approved. As such, I would mark that "yes" it was refused and then explain the circumstances in the box that appears. It shouldn't impact the IR-5 visa at all. They don't always mark the passport from what I've seen (many embassies just don't mark the passport, actually). But saying "yes" and explaining it seems like the safest route here.

So I would write,Yes and explain : Visa F2 not approved 

 

Is that enough ?

You should be fine. If they want more info, they'll ask at the interview.  It shouldn't be an issue.
