Hey guys,

Just tried to schedule an appointment for the visa interview, it shows Sept 26, 2017 as the earliest appointment date, I reached the section where it was asking for the receipt number for the visa payment.

My question is, before I click submit at that section, will I be able to schedule a different date (some time in October) or will it just give me the next available appointment date by default?

You select the date you want your interview. But, if the date you desire is greyed out it means that it is full. If Oct is no displaying it means it isn't available yet. You will have to keep checking to see when it opens.  If you take a date in Sept and then cancel it that is not a problem But two cancelations you will have to wait 90 days and pay the interview fee once again. So be careful.

There is no default .. you click on the dark colored date (those are available) and that is your appointment.   You don't choose one you can't schedule.

And as Greenbaum stated.. grayed out not available,

October not showing... that month hasn't been released yet.  So if you want October you will have to wait for roughly another month.

hey guys...I have another question.

My fiance paid for the fee Thursday here (Friday afternoon Philippine time). and its Monday here (Monday night Philippine time), and I tried to get past the "payment" section by entering our receipt number and the system shows

"No valid record can be found for the entered receipt number. Please validate that your receipt number is correct and that you have paid the correct amount for the visa which you are applying for. "

Just be patient.  It can take up to 24 hours (during business days) before the receipt number will be valid.   Sat-Sun do NOT count.. AND Monday was a holiday.

I know the DOS website states it has to be completed first, but you are a first to state it was required on the interview site.  Did you have to enter info for the DS-160 when scheduling?

no I didnt actually...after completing the DS160. The interview website was finally able to locate the receipt number of the visa payment (before completing the DS160, the system couldn't locate the payment), then I was able to go to the scheduling an interview section.
