Yikes...I called up USCIS a couple minutes ago because the 180 days for my I485 are approaching but the lady stated that the service center is still processing cases from Nov 2004! I told her that the receipt stated that it will take between 120-180 days but she said that she can only go by the service centers processin g date and I should expect to wait about a year...we're so pissed...I wish I hadn't called...I'm the type who doesn't like to know a lot (what I dont know wont hurt me) but hubby wants to be in the know about everything...

Sigh...not very comforting for you I know. I've heard it said that "ignorance is bliss". Not sure what to expect when Joel and I file AOS. I wonder if it depends on the local office it's filed through?

Nizzy try and call back and talk to different operator. Some of them read from scripts and do not know everything. I would not think the timeframe you were given is accurate of one year. Good luck.

Follow the 'processing times' link from above (under the blue tabs) to find the average processing times for your district office.

If you don't know your district office, figure it out by going to USCIS.gov and follow the prompts.

Don't waste your time calling USCIS. Just go by the charts.
