With the renewed concern about the loss of life due to terrorism, this might be a good opportunity to take a look at gun violence, which outpaces the harm done by terrorism by far.

Of course, we all know the terrorist angle is a narrative that suits the need to hate groups of people that are different, and that our hypocrisy will always prevent us from taking a serious look

at the problem of gun violence in our country.

In summary, Americans are doing a much better job at killing Americans, than all of ISIS combined. Why can't we start to combat this type of terror at home?

It is never a good time and never will be a good time to talk about gun violence in the US. There are much more pressing issues such as Muslims, Venezuela and the wall.

Cars and knives too. We need to control those, because terrorists are using knives and cars.

Speaking of cars, do you have any idea how many people die in car accidents every year? The numbers are INSANE!!! It's the cars that really need to be banned in the US.

Venezuela is definitely a hot button topic. Why else would we find Venezuela inserted into so many threads here on VJ that have absolutely nothing to do with Venezuela??

You really still wanna talk about guns?

Not really. Auto deaths jumped 14% last year over 2014. Over 40k.

If I had to label one part of US culture that looks to be running out of control its opioids. They are saying overdoses are going to be above 60k for 2017. For reference, I think 2014 was 28k. If we have anything to be worried about its this. I could see 2018 reaching 80 or 90k.
