Time off for Visits

Just want to get feedback from your experience. What's your experience requesting time off with your employers. I'm trying to get visits with my husband in Morocco. I took a trip in July. Getting time off in less than a year from my job seems impossible. Any suggestions?

It depends on your employer. Are they easy to speak to, you could explain to them you need more visits with your spouse to increase your chances in getting your spouse here. What is your company policy, where i worked i was allow to go visit my fiancee anytime i wanted as long as i had the vacation time. I get 7 weeks off a year so i was able to visit my fiancee twice a year. 

 

I guess just be honest with your employer and let them know how important it is to you. You might have an employer who understands and it does not hurt to try.

If your immediate supervisor flat-out tells you "no", I would then ask the HR Department (if you have one)---sometimes supervisors aren't aware of what your employment contract actually entitles you to.

Try talking to your employer.  I was working two jobs during the visa process.  I had told both of them about my relationship and how important it was to visit him as often as possible.  They all were really cool with it and seemed excited every time I had a visit and always wanted to know when he was coming.  So just try to talk to them and see what happens.

I just started at this company in May. I informed them of planned time off in July before I got hired which is why it was approved. As of right now I have no vacation time. This is not a supportive work environment. I will explore the HR approach although I don't trust them either but am willing to give it a try. Thank you all for your input. I appreciate it greatly.

Update: I just booked my flight to Morocco for November. I took advice given here (on another topic post) about taking small short trips. This trip will only be 5 days during Veteran's Day Weekend. 

I appreciate all the advice and words of encouragement.
