ok guys....ive heard/read 3 million different things about vaccinations for the I-693. what is right??? does my husband have to get all 11 vaccines listed on the I-693 supplement? ive also heard that polio isnt necessary.....and that only 3 are actually necessary for his age range. also, is the TB test ok with the skin test, or does that have to be a blood test? and does everyone have to get a chest x-ray? i wish i could find something more concrete on this subject, ive searched here, and the uscis website for something definite....but cant find anything telling me an exact truth. help..please...anyone?

Does he not have his vaccination records from back home? If so he shouldn't have to get all the vaccinations, a doctor can transfer from that card to his I-693A.

As for tests, the requirement for I-693 is to get Chest X-ray for TB, a TB skin test, and blood tests for HIV and Syphalis. None of these are optional, and a negative skin test doesn't mean he can skip the X-ray, IIRC.

You should talk to a civil surgeon about this, they will know what needs to be done.

He has no records of his vaccines. The national healthcare in the UK is fabulous but they wont release his medical records..AT ALL. grrr. i knew those tests werent optional, just wasnt sure what was required for the TB. i plan on having a civil surgeon sign off so to speak on all the medical stuff but i'm getting as much of it done as possible at my health dept cuz it will be alot cheaper.

~Chelsea,

Probably all 3 million things are right, for the particular situation. This is one area where there is no exact answer and all people will not have the same experience - different people have many different experiences.

With regard to the vaccinations, the examining doctor will determine which of the vaccinations specified for immigration are medically appropriate for the particular person and which should be waived as not medically appropriate.

Yeah, good idea to have the shots done. BTW - the polio thing might not be avoidable. My civil surgeon told me I had to get one because I only had records of 3 polio shots, where I should have had 4 (or something like that) so I had to get one. The only other thing I had to get was MMR because I never had that as a child. The surgeon took my word that I had chicken pox as a child so signed off on me not having to get a varicela vacine.

I would personally be surprised if the surgeon required all 11 shots.

same thing happened to my husband, Ireland would NOT release his vaccination records(or they couldn't find them) so we got a letter from the doc who performed the medical prior to the k-1 interview, and we had blood "titre" tests done to show all the vaccinations he has had. It will cost us about $125.00 thru my ins company but it was our only option.

we then went to a USCIS doc & she transferred all the findings onto the I-693.

after all this he will need to have another medical soon b/c he had his medical in August 06':whistle:

Interesting! My civil surgeon sent me off to do the Chest X-ray before he even took the TB test. Still luckily my insurance paid for it. ;)

what does OPV stand for???

It means Oral Polio Vaccine.

They don't do OPV any more, they do a shot (in the USA anyway).

It is against the law for your fiance's NHS GP to not give him access to his medical records. He has the right to see ANYTHING that is in his records and request a copy.

His doctor is breaking the law by refusing to let him have copies of anything he asks for.

Just to warn you that you might still have to get the chest X-ray, because if your husband had a BCG injection (ihe has one of those round scars on his left arm), that can often cause the TB skin test to come up positive.
