So, when in Juarez for my medical exam for the consulate interview for K1 visa, they said I needed immunizations. I couldn't afford them at the time, so I agreed to get them in the US. So, fast forward to today (3 months from the consulate medical exam) & I had to pay a civil surgeon $225 to get my documents reviewed and ANOTHER exam despite my exam only being 3 months old. And guess what?  I don't need a single immunization!  What a waste of my time & money and I feel totally taken advantage of because USCIS knows I'm at their mercy!:bonk:  :ranting:

You are aware that USCIS actually has no bearing on the medicals...

The places that conduct the medicals are selected specifically by USCIS yes, but they set out the health/immunization requirements for the visa and that is it. What happens to you at the medical is out of their hands and their control.

Also, with respect you need to call around many civil surgeons to find one that understands you do not need another exam. It took me 5 phone calls to different USCIS-approved civil surgeons to find one that understood I didn't need a new exam and it only cost me $50.

Lesson learned though, you here now and money comes and goes :)

It's not USCIS' fault here. If anything, it's the panel physicians' fault here. There are incompetent ones out there and there are also ones that try to make a quick buck by ripping off immigrants like you and I.

With the CS in the US, prices are never standardized across the board so your doctor might have charged $225 but a different doctor in the area might charge $125. I think people should consider calling various CS to check on their prices before diving in uninformed. That would help save money.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Exactly this.

See my post above this one, it took me numerous phone calls and the price was different with every single CS.
