Country of birth/citizenship in Reentry Permit

I come from a country that no longer exists, former Yugoslavia. For the duration of my stay in the US, I have gotten RPs and RTDs, and I always put Yugoslavia in the applications.

A few years ago, when I applied for Global Entry, I asked what country to put in the citizenship field and the CBP officer told me to list the country that is now the sovereign state of my city of birth, namely, Kosovo. I did, and my Global Entry card now lists Kosovo as the country of citizenship.

I have applied for US citizenship and I am now in "interview being scheduled" status. However, it may be that before I get to the interview, I may need to travel out and will need a new RP. I am wondering what to put in the "country of birth and citizenship" fields.

I know that for US passports, if the country no longer exists, the rule I followed for the Global Entry is also valid. I am unsure about RP... if anyone can shed some light it would be great.

I believe reentry permits also use the current country name as place of birth.  Citizenship depends on the laws applicable to that country (many countries do not grant citizenship by birth, they grant it based on one's parent's citizenship)

Are you, indeed, a citizen of Kosovo per the nationality laws of Kosovo?
