Speeding Ticket!!!!!!!

I got stopped going 50 in a 35mph zone . . . mid-day, cop setup with radar gun, not much traffic, and I had just turned the corner, LOL! I know I was speeding . . . but 50 is slow in Texas, LOL, so it makes it hard to obey the speed limits :innocent: but I do try soooooooooooo hard. TG, it wasn't a school zone, but I usually am one of the few ppl going 20mph thru those (big fines, ya know).

Sooooooo, I got my ticket, the cop explained about my options and thanked me for being so nice and polite about things.

I sent in my payment with the box checked to take a driver's course (defensive driving, whatever). When I got the papers back from the court, I find that I have to get a copy of my driving record and a notarized statement saying I hadn't taken another drivers course within the past 12 months. This is new, but last time I took one of these courses was maybe over 10 years ago . . . . yes, the last time I got a ticket, hehe, and would you believe it was the same street??? just different cops . . . i.e. Dallas vs Richardson.

NOW, the interesting part about this . . . I started getting postcards in the mail from places that want me to come take the driver course from them!!! LOL, comedy clubs and restaurants!!! ComedyGuys OR PickGeo.Com . . . just two of the ones I can pick from.

So what would you do? Go for laughs, go to get a "free" meal?? Or just sign up for the convenient one at the local community college?? . . . which is cheap and boring and right across the street from my house (no driving to class), LOL!!

Wow...I got the same stuff in the mail...but I went the cheapest route and took course online. I got a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign and no proof of insurance.....3 points or take class....so I took the 4 hr course.

I know that I stopped, but officer insisted my tires were still rolling....and once I went to courthouse to show proof of insurance......that ticket was reduced drastically.....this was my 1st time getting a ticket....costly may I add :)

To Blessed to be stressed:) I realize that all things have a purpose and a time.....have faith and the Lord Almighty will provide... when the time is right, he NEVER fails!

Yeah I got a ticket a couple of years ago for 'rolling' a stop sign. It was one installed only to slow traffic. Isn't that was speed humps are for? Anyway, I didn't come to a complete stop (people rarely do) so technically it was a correct ticket. I chose to take the driving class and I received a bunch of ads for classes in the area. They must get your address from some public record of the ticket. Isn't that great? I would just take the closest class. They say it's 4 hours but I think we got out in around 3.5. And yeah, it's VERY boring!

I was in a hurry from Amherst on the turnpike driving at nearly 100 mph on a 65 mph zone. Got a ticket for $200. It was years ago. I was younger, didn't know any better. Now, I drive at 65-70 mph. Never got a ticket since.

I definitely plan on taking the cheapest, most convenient class. I was just surprised about the number of cards I got in the mail for the specialty classes and the $10 fee to get my "driving record" . . which IS clean . . . you still pay the fine and pay for the class, plus the cost of sending in the papers by registered mail (because who has time to drive downtown to go to the courthouse . . . oh, and pay parking, etc . . well, I could take the train I guess, hehe).

FYI, remember that by taking this class, I can actually get a discount on my insurance!! Not much, but Texas does have some high rates, so every little bit helps.
