You are correct sir. But for many of us Southerners who have ancestors that fought in the civil war on the Confederate side it still means something to us. My ancestors were dirt poor farmers in NC and he went off to war for the Confederacy because that's just what you do at the time, it wasn't about slaves because he had none, it was about preserving our way of life(which is under threat again).  

 

So why is it ok for Mexicans and Peruvians to show pride in their culture of Aztecs and Incans but it's not ok for us Southerners to show pride in our culture? Just because we had slavery makes us evil and supposedly ONLY White people owner slaves(which isn't true). I am the farthest thing from a racist there is but this is just getting ridiculous right now, and it will lead to a backlash from people.
