With every sneer, liberals just make Trump stronger

Did I tell you Donald Trump is a vulgar, foul-mouthed, meat-faced, 71-year-old redneck buffoon? To be honest, he is a fossil-fuel guzzling, Big Mac-eating, #####-grabbing, racist #######. He has hubris syndrome with paranoid narcissistic disorder. Do you read his tweets? The English is dreadful. How can a man run the country who is so uncouth, with that hair, those ties, those baggy suits? He is a Ba’athist generalissimo, the president of a banana republic. He is anti-Christ. There. Does that make you feel better?

All the above phrases are culled from a brief Google scan on the current American president. They reflect a melange of national shame, liberal trauma, snobbery and class hatred. They extend across the Atlantic and around the world. They assume two things. One is that Trump is so appalling it is inconceivable he could win a second term in office. The other is that deploying the same language as he did to win office is the best way to send him packing.

I hope the first is true, but I am not sure about the second. The comparison this week between Trump’s scripted and spontaneous reactions to the Charlottesville riot spoke volumes of his technique and his appeal. He failed to fully address the one aspect of the riot where attacking the left might have had traction, its Orwellian “history scrubbing” of the Confederate hero General Robert E Lee. Instead he used the occasion to denigrate the “alt-left”, and ramp up his appeal not just to the “alt-right” but to the silent right that, perhaps ashamedly, sympathises with it.

Trump made it almost arrogantly clear that his formally scripted criticism of the right was merely to appease Washington’s “liberal elite”. He promptly erased it in the sort of street fight with the media that his followers love. Every time this happens, Fox, Drudge, Breitbart and his social media operators gleefully edit clips and feed them to his millions of supporters. A BBC documentary by Jamie Bartlettthis week showed how Trump may be a gastronomic and sartorial throwback, but he is a master at social media. The 1990s thesis that the internet would turn the world into one vast lovable, liberal community has never looked less likely than today. It plays into the hands of the political polarisers.

As the article says, they'd be better reaching out to Trump supporters.

 

However, they're so busy in tantrum mode they have no clue of the short-sightedness of which they look at things. They're going to need the states they poo-poo off as the Russians and KKK/Nazi racists to vote for Democrats in 2020 to avoid a Trump re-election. With these tantrums, why would those voters ever change to who these nutcases support?

 

Trump can be the worst President in the history of the universe and it would make no difference at all so long as his adversaries are even less desirable, which is the current state of things.

 

As I've stated numerous times though, I just hope the Dem politicians don't change their tune, and suddenly expect to win with the way they're currently placating to insane people.  Might be the doomsday in me talking, but I wanna see how far the left will take these tantrums.

Seriously I listened to that whole conference yesterday and it was funny in my book. The media kept trying to pin him into a corner of supporting the Alt-Right and he wasn't having it at all. I love the part he said to the reporter"Define Alt-Right to me, come on define it" and she had nothing to say to it. Down with the Alt-Left/Antifa.

   The media knew that he would win with a negative vote margin and his Aug 2017 popularity rating would be 30% before the election? I'm not sure about fake news, but that sounds like a fake representation of the news.

He kept Hillary out and he is exposing the dishonest media. Plus....he appointed a conservative Supreme Court judge. Illegal immigration attempts down by 70%. Illegals fleeing to Canada. Liberals having their world turned upside down and reacting like fools. Pipelines approved. Cancelled worthless Paris accord. Stood up to North Korea.  Lots of things to be happy about.

 

Most likely...a Supreme Court vacancy will be in play in 2020. This will allow Trump to win again.

  He can win, but I'm not sure how he went from just pulling off this election to becoming the '27 Yankees. People don't really like him. Even many of the people that voted for him don't, and his numbers didn't really blow anyone away in the past election. His supporters will follow him off the cliff straight to Hell, obviously. I'm not so sure about the swing voters though. A lot of them are sneering at him too, and it's not really apparent how that makes him stronger.

The press pool are mostly pathetic people that could not make it as actors.  

 

What is is actually sad is how weak and pathetic many republican politicians are. They are so afraid of the press they will only say things the leftist media will approve of. I suspect....Drain the swamp....will be a regular chant at trump rallies.

Well at least you realize that what the media says is not really how the vote turns out. Plus...if we get voter ID....the Russians will not be able to hack our elections.
