Guys, I lived in a jurisdiction for a year and did not even realize that I was required to file local taxes there (in 2015).

I have contacted the town and sent in my tax return as of yesterday..my interview is in the first week of September. I did ask and was told that no criminal or civil charge was out on me because of this and I am in good standing.

How big of a deal do you think this is? Am i  in big trouble in my interview? I have filed every other federal, state, local tax that I was required to file.

that's all you need to file in Tax. Bring all these Tax documents to the interview. or the Tax return transcript copy from the IRS.  it's free. you request online from IRS, they arrive in your mailbox 3-4 business days

Yeah I will be bringing everything else with me. I am just worried that my faliure to file town tax return for 2015 (which i filed yesterday finally) will cause me trouble. I have filed every other tax ..i just didnt realize that the town I lived in for a year also required me to file tax returns.

I got it cleared as of yesterday thought and no charge of any sort was brought against me.

i presume  the "local" or "town" you stayed for a year  is not your regular residency or home address on your federal, state, city tax file ?!

Why you need to file a tax for that temporary place if you dont earn money/ income from there ?

I lived there and that was the address on my federal return for that year. Even though I didnt work there (worked in a nearby municipality), the municipality still requires you to file tax return (and charges tax) for having lived there.
