You need to ask one of the VJ Lemons, ps it is Murican.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I agree, the double standard is sickening.

Sickening but sadly common.

I'm not aware of any "black colleges" that would deny your application because you are white.

Can you give me some examples?

Of course, they won't reject your application, they don't want a lawsuit.  But they are called black colleges for a reason, and I'd say that's exclusionary.  I don't see any schools referred to as white colleges.  And that's my point.  Why are black colleges allowed to exist?   We can safely assume that if any school were to call itself a white college, Jesse and Al would be marching up and down screaming racism.

You might have to venture outside of CNN, DailyKos, Slate, HuffPo, Guardian, NPR, etc. to get the answer. If you can't bear it, I understand.

That's because equality is giving special treatment to specific groups, rather than just treating people by merit.

Obviously side-stepping the point of civil rights movements.. for equality, not to be treated special.

They are not called 'black colleges', they are called 'historically black colleges'.  We are getting some great lessons on the use (and misuse) of context today. The reason they exist is because prior to the civil rights movement, almost all other higher education institutions were indeed 'white colleges'.

I understood it as written, not in 'my context'.

Whether you understood it or not matters not to me, but by electing to use half the quote, you are the one taking it out of context.

English is not my first language, which accounts for things not being properly structured sometimes,  I apologize.

You can claim you understood it in your context, still means nothing -- stating another group does the same thing is not an explanation. Best of luck next time.

That is exactly my point though.

Using black extremists to discuss the uproar about white extremists is, indeed, pointless. But that is the point of the thread isn't it? ''white pride vs. black pride'' is the title after all. Two wrongs don't make a right.

You clearly chose to leave out chunks of my paragraph, since I did say that I believe it is equally bad for someone black/ or from any other ethnicity to be against someone for being white. That you are equally entitled to be proud of being white and that doesn't make you automatically racist, you big coconut head. Stop trying to fight everyone, especially one that simply wants to have a conversation about this and is supporting ''both sides'' but knows that history is a huge factor why white oppression tends to be overlooked.

You have every right to have a different opinion, and even if we don't agree or like what you say, we have to respect it. I know I won't change the way you feel. But you complain about people seeing things one way and being biased by the liberal media, but from what I've read, you seem set in your ways and there doesn't seem to be much wiggle room, which in my opinion, is just the same.

So do the white colleges get to keep their white people and change the name/premise to "white college" as long as they use "historically" in front of it? Hl9rl26.gif

That would be racist.

I can see why you think that way and I don't blame you. Truth be told in many ways I do agree with the left on a number of these issues, I just see no reason to be conciliatory or agreeable because, 1. agreeing with them sends a message that their tantrums are okay, and 2. its way too entertaining seeing them so irrationally upset.
