Bad car crash near Ft Lauderdale

About an hour ago my wife called me in tears from the car on her way to work (she has a travelling job and is away a lot). She just saw a horrific car crash on the freeway involving a minivan trying to overtake a semi-truck. The van apparently got obliterated (complete with bodies strewn across the roadway) and the semi is on fire. She'd just driven past the whole thing and seen a little kid lying motionless. All this apparently happened right in front of her and if she had been any closer to it would likely have been involved herself.

Have to say - seeing the way some people drive in various states I'm really surprised we haven't seen something like this happen before, but doesn't make it any less shocking. I feel bad for her all the way over there - I hope she can get through the day ok...

Has anyone heard anything on the local news over there about this?

I am not surprised. There are so many idiot mini van drivers out there who think their 'min-van' is untouchable and a formula 1 racing car.. I hope that driver is proud of themselves for killing those kids..

Just the other day my wife held me back from getting out punching out an idiot driving a SUV, with kids, who was weaving in and out of traffic and nearly hit me.. I am talking about inches from hitting me..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I don't think the driver thinks much of anything anymore - the van was apparently completely destroyed. She didn't think the truck driver made it out either - she said there was a massive gasoline fire around the cab.

IMO tho, and since i do live in florida, we have the worst drivers i have ever seen. especially here in Gainesville. We have the retard college students who have a car mommy and daddy pay for and dont care if it gets wrecked bc they will get another one. We have the severly OLD ppl who are either blind or cant see over the steering wheel and are blind, and we have the wealthy who think anyone below them should move over to the side of the road so they can get by.

I have never in my life seen worse drivers than i have in florida. And ive lived in ALOT of places.

That makes sense...narrowly avoid a car accident only to physically assault the perpetrator using your own brand of vigilante justice. In front of his/her kids, no less. Being in car accident = bad but seeing mommy or daddy decked by a complete stranger blinded by road rage = OK?

We saw a bad car accident coming back from Up North last weekend... there was a destroyed car, a semi, and childrens' toys all over the road. All the people in the car went zooming past us in ambulances. It's very hard to see that.

I do not endorse violence or using it to make a point but I am sick and tired of people driving like complete idiots with absolutely no respect for the lives of their passengers or the lives of others on the road.

I-95 is a death trap. I regularly drive on it in the Virginian portion of the road and always fear for my life and the life of others.
