Help help help, my cousin finished her interview today, she came crying. I did something wrong , I told her this result means they will deny you soon.

Spontaneously, I said that coz all people like her result were denied.

She passed the test of English and U.S, history and government, but they checked the option seventh.

USCIS will send you a written decision about your application. I know a lot of people had like this result they were denied .

I feel guilty coz I told her that, I wish I`m wrong.....

That doesn't mean a denial in all cases.  Sometimes it's because it can't be approved on the spot because info given during the interview needs to be verified, maybe they want a second look at some documents submitted in relation to what she said, sometimes it's simply because the officer who interviewed her is still new on the job and ALL of their approvals have to pass through a supervisor first (this happens more often than you think).

TONS of people get the "written decision" response at the end of their interview rather than on-the-spot approval.  Later on they receive an approval letter in the mail.

That doesn't mean anything bad either.  When an IO is training a new employee, the only way they can train them on how to conduct interviews is to have them sit in on interviews.

What you need to do is ask your cousin what, if anything, the officer said to her at the end of the interview when he handed her the paper.

That would be the best indicator on how the interview went.

What do you mean by 'they checked the option seventh'?

Do you mean they checked the answer on the seventh question in the civics quiz as she gave a correct answer but not be one that they normally hear? Like the question about wars in the 1800, I always pick the war of 1812 but most people give one of the other answers as that is what is in USCIS practise test. Both are right but my answer is less common.

I agree with going through, saying that you will hear from USCIS with a written response is not always a bad thing, and it is true something new the new employees are not allowed to say you have been approved as all of their cases are reviewed by a supervisor as part of their training. This could have been a trainee doing an interview in front of their supervisor.

Please don't say anything else to her as you may make her feel worse, my cousins do this all the time say something as if it is  an absolute truth when they don't actually know.

Well...it probably wasn't the *most* supportive way you could have gone about your initial reaction..but at least you can give her some new info and hope now :)

That sounds like she's pretty much approved, the way you've worded what he said there.

If she were facing denial, he wouldn't have even mentioned the words "oath ceremony".

That most likely means the officer is recommending her for approval.  Keep up her hope.

And if she did end up getting denied?  It's not like she cannot ever apply again in the future---but I'm crossing my fingers for her, and based on what you've said above...I think she'll be ok :)
