When I arrived to Calgary, first place I went to was to a bank to withdraw rent funds, the teller there was a very gorgeous Muslim woman in Islamic garb, she offered me a personal tour of the city and gave me her number. Pretty much set the tone for how people are here, and shattered many stereotypes.

Maybe she was hitting on you?

Edit: Also, true story.. when we moved from Toronto to Calgary, I came here first, wife and daughter a few months later. Did you explain to this woman your views on Muslims? Bet that would've "set the tone" for her as well.

No No we need to segregate blacks and treat them differently. Its for their own good.. got to love the MDL and the plantation mindset.

Most would think she was. Being that I'm married, I was just really nice and slightly flirty. What I would do if I were single.

It's going so well now, more and more people are identifying as not wanting anything to do with their politics. More importantly, independents and moderates.

Can only wonder how long this inanity will last.

Indeed. Self-segregation is still segregation.

If we take the GTA (Toronto area) for example, this is a rather broadly leftist part of Canada, who likewise tend to think of cities like Calgary as "redneck" and not this melting pot (re: mosaic).

Thing is, in this leftist utopia, it is severely segregated. You have people from India, and Muslims, segregating themselves to Markham and Brampton. Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, etc.) to Scarborough. Jews and Italians to Thornhill and Vaughan. Eastern Europeans (Ukrainians, Russians, Romanis, etc.) to Etobicoke, and so on..

The result is very segregated societies and intolerance run amok. People tend to speak their own languages, mingle with their own people, and western values are absent. In Calgary, it's virtually the opposite here.. where people from all backgrounds tend to be very affluent in English, people from different backgrounds are often seen mingling together, you have various backgrounds celebrating local heritage (i.e. Stampede), and you have a Muslim mayor (Naheed Nenshi) who very openly celebrates Calgary and Alberta heritage alike.

Yet, extremely few people in this city are even cowboys, it's an extremely business-centered city, and if you were to visit Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, etc. and ask them of the people in Calgary, they act as if the roads are covered in horse ####### and we're full of hillbillies here, and stereotype Calgarians alike.

I think it's great many people are starting to see these leftist movements for being backwards and all for show. When it comes to values over the last century espoused as "liberal", the left violate many of those ideals with their currently extremely regressive approach.

We are actually just in Milwaukee(again...we come here twice a year) and were planning to go to Leon's but it is in such a bad neighborhood now, once it got dark it was a no go. Not my call cause I don't know the area, I would have probably done it anyway cause I'm stupid like that...but I was told it's not safe. There are some neighborhoods that used to be really nice that have now completely changed, yet another example of democratic utopia. Very segregated area. Yet we're expected to just ignore what's right infront of our faces because that's "generalizing". Nope. No one said everybody in those places is bad. But ya gotta acknowledge the facts on the ground. Don't ya know silly? Every minority can have their own group because they are intimidated by white people, but god forbid white folks have an exclusive group cause god knows there's never any reason to be intimidated by anyone but white people - that's called racism.
