How often is online case status wrong?

I called a Tier 2 rep at USCIS today to get the tracking number for my wife's ten-year green card since yesterday, 08/14/2017, I got the email and text message notifications that the green card has been mailed.

Last Thursday, 08/10/2017, the online case status had been updated to say "Card production ordered," and on 08/04/2017 we received the approval letter in the mail with an approval date of 07/30/2017 (note that the online status never changed for the approval).

The representative said that the card hasn't even been printed yet, despite what the online status says. Does anyone have experience with discrepancies between the online case status and the internal system for the Tier 2 representatives? I find it hard to believe the online system would just ahead and say the card has been mailed if it hasn't even been printed yet, but then again there would be no reason to tell us otherwise.

Also, most RoC filers seem to have received their card within a week or so of the approval date. We're over two weeks and I'm a bit concerned if it hasn't even been printed yet. I know you have to give it up to sixty days to arrive, but realistically in cases that take a little longer, around when does it arrive? Thank you!

Your case is approved. Don't rely on what one Tier 2 said. "Card production ordered" does not mean, it is printed. You should get a "Card Mailed" update to confirm it is mailed and on its way. They also used to give a 3rd update with the tracking number online but not sure if they are doing that anymore. Best way to track the card is the MyUSPS dashboard. They ship these cards with two-day priority mail, it should show up there once it is mailed from the card production facility at Corbin, KY. Create yourself an account if you don't have one already.

Mine took 2 weeks to arrive from the approval date. I've seen some people got their cards in 3 weeks before. a month or more is unusual though.

Yesterday the status did update to "Card Mailed" yet the Tier 2 representative I called just over an hour ago today said it hasn't yet been printed.

I asked her to check our receipt number and explain why the online case status was "Card Mailed" and she apologized and said it hasn't actually been printed yet and that I should call back in a week to check since there would be no more online status updates for that case (other than "Card Delivered," I assume).

I already use the USPS Informed Delivery but I've heard of people saying certain USCIS mailings don't show up. In the case of the Informed Delivery's Mail Dashboard / Daily Digest, it shows mail that is scheduled for delivery today, not future dates. If Priority Mail or USCIS notices are somehow different, that's great! In your experience do you get a scan and notification the day it leaves Corbin, KY? I only received a notification of the RoC approval notice the day of delivery, not before.

My tracking number became available a day after the card mailed update, maybe you'll receive one today. The dashboard I mention is the package dashboard, not the mail dashboard. Mail dashboard shows daily mails every morning, package dashboard shows packages as soon as they scan a tracking number to the system. they should be available on the same screen, side by side different tabs. priority mail envelopes show up in the package dashboard.

Thanks, I'll sign up for package dashboard notifications.

Are you able to share the text of your USCIS online case status update with the tracking number? Based on reading other users' updates, I know if gives you the tracking number once it's been delivered, but I haven't heard of an update between "Card Mailed" and "Card Delivered." Thank you!

Ok I guess there is a 4th update showing card is delivered. I'm surprised my updates are still on the system after 16 months. I don't have the uscis account anymore, can't tell how that 3rd update looks like.

Thanks for the info! To clarify, you do remember the earlier update before "Card Delivered" including the tracking number?

Just an update that we received the green card in the mail on Friday, August 18th. It would have arrived on the 17th but I applied with a typo in the zip code and that took an extra day for USPS to sort out. I was told by USPS that with Priority Mail the zip code is hard-coded into the barcode/labels so it can only get corrected once it arrives at the (erroneous) post office, not en route as normal mail would be corrected.

The online case status never updated to reflect our approval, but the approval letter was dated July 30th, 2017. The online case status did update for the other stages, reading "Card production ordered on August 10th" and "Green card mailed on August 14th."

We are VSC and received the old green card format, not the new one.

The case status never reflected the tracking number and I can't find anyone else on VisaJourney that says there is an extra stage of the online case status checker that says "Card mailed with tracking number XXX," as charmander states. I would hazard a guess that it's a slightly faulty recollection. I have heard of the final "Card delivered on XXX with tracking number XXX" status, but never anything before that that also includes the tracking number. Strangely my case status hasn't updated to say it's been delivered even though it has.

In the end, I agree that the Tier 2 USCIS representative was wrong when she status that card production had not been ordered even though the online tracking had said it had been ordered.
