You don't need to call them, it will come when it comes.  Calling unnecessarily just makes the wait that much longer for all the other people who have actual problems to discuss with CIS.

 

This is not directed at only you, but if all people would stop freaking out and stop calling them to check status, the wait times wouldn't be so bad.  There is no reason to check status EVERY day.  Yes, we know there are people who do that because they freely admit to doing so on this board.

 

My wife is normally a worry-wart, but she was so calm about it that we were surprised when we got the email about ROC being approved because we forgot that we had sent it.  Stressing out over it can't be good for the mind and body.  Relax.

With all due respect, this is utter rubbish.

There aren't specific resources allocated for I-751 matters. The call centre is there for ALL USCIS matters, and there is a queuing system for the specified number of tier 2 officers who are available to take any queries from anyone, which is why the call back time is quite often several hours or more. It isn't like the I-751 adjudicators are being pulled from their desks to help take calls to the mis-information line, of officers are being pulled from airport desks in order to do call backs!

 

Perhaps if USCIS was a) efficient b) modernised c) well trained d) consistent e) truthful) f) transparent, and loads more stuff I really can't be bothered to list right now, then people wouldn't be freaking out in the first place or have any NEED to contact them.

Perhaps if communication and policy was clear so that people didn't think their status expires after their extension letter, then they wouldn't need to call or go to an infopass. 

Perhaps if  a second extension was automatically mailed out after the first year, having to get these stupid stamps wouldn't be an issue either.

Perhaps if they updated the online case status to show EVERYTHING relevant when their is new action (mine still shows 'On May xx, 2015, we received your Form CRI-89, Petition to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status Received, Receipt Number EACxxxxxxxxxx, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by June 6, 2015, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.") then perhaps people wouldn't be chasing it up.

 

 

Unfortunately the situation is what it is, but you can't then turn around and blame the people who are PAYING for this service, who then simply want to know what the hell is going on with what is quite a major factor in their lives, when they have been told nothing.

I can't think of any circumstance in which this would possibly be true. There is zero reason why *your* case would become some sort of anomaly in which the ability to track your case would suddenly be denied to you and you alone. I believe that's what they told you, but I also believe they had no idea what they were talking about (surprise surprise). You still have the one-year extension letter, right? So if the receipt number they quoted to you over the phone is the same one that is written on your extension letter, then they were absolutely wrong. That's because you can't use that receipt number to check your case status. Nobody can. It's a completely different number from the second one you get on the biometrics notice, which you would be able to use to check your status.

 

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how you can get the correct receipt number when they're giving you misinformation, short of finding that biometrics letter. IF it were me, I would call them again, ensure I got transferred to a tier 2 officer (again), and tell them the situation again to ensure I got the same information twice. Asking them for a receipt number in general will likely just lead them to give you the one off your extension letter because it requires the least amount of effort on their part. Confidently saying, "I need the second receipt number, the one that is listed on the bottom right of my biometrics appointment notice, NOT *quote the one you already have here*" might get you a better result. I recall one person a couple of years ago who called USCIS three or four different times with this issue and was finally able to get a tier 2 to actually fax her a copy of her biometrics notice, which, lo and behold, had the needed tracking number.

LOL @ "Utter Rubbish"

 

I'm not referring to I-751 cases only.  I'm talking about all types of cases and petitions with USCIS and NVC.  There are people who needlessly call for a status EVERY SINGLE  DAY tying up limited phone lines, and people who have actual real questions have to wait on hold for 3 hours because SuzyQ is freaking out, only to be told that it's "pending".  1 day after that it's still "pending".  1 day after that "it's pending".  Yes, it would be normal to want to inquire after 6 months to see if there has been an update on your case, even though they send an email when a case has been approved.

 

I understand that people always want things now and that's how it is, and I also know that asking people to use common sense and think of others probably is Utter Rubbish.

I have heard some people who applies form N400 got the same issue. Call USCIS and they will fix it for you. 

I believe this is called administrative error.
