Follow to join for K2 please help

Hello, 

 

I just received my fiancé Manila case number and she is ready fill out her DS-160 form.  She has 2 kids that will be coming as well with the exception of the eldest which she will join to follow once she is done with school in March.  I was confused about the process after reading the steps online.

Can all 3 submit a DS-160 and pay for medical all at once or does the follow to join daughter have to schedule her appointment closer to when she is coming here to the US.

 

I know that she has 6 months after the K1 visa is issued but we might be cutting it too close and have to resort to follow to join to be on the safe side. 

 

If I click on the Follow to join and when she's ready as long it's before the one year all she has to do is pay the the fee and submit a DS-160 and schedule an interview an medical right?

I would suggest holding off on the medical+interview until it is closer to when she is ready to immigrate:

 

1) The medical is only valid for 6 months.

2) The K-2 visa is only valid for 6 months from the date of the medical or the interview...whichever comes sooner (usually the medical). So if you did the medical today and interview in January, the visa would still expire in February.

3) You will pay for the medical at SLEC once you are ready to do the medical.
