Hey guys,

I am confused about the fees. I received an email from the US embassy in Moscow stating my application is ready for processing and to pay $265 to schedule the interview. But then on the consulate info page it says to pay $325 at the embassy.

So what fees do I need to pay in addition to the $265 for the interview? The medical exam is around $200? Just trying to plan what I need to set aside.

Would you know the options

  • cash (USD or RUB)
  • check (personal on a US bank like when submitting the initial I-129, or USPS money order)
  • charge (AMEX or Visa / MC)

I get airline miles if it's AMEX ... and the total, including the medicall ($200 + $265 + $325) is a lot of walking-around-money if it's a cash-and-carry operation!

Either you apply and pay for a K-1 visa, OR you apply and pay for an immigrant visa. Not both.

And no I don't know how things work in Russia, never been through a visa process there. Never visited either for that matter.

For Russia, you can pay the with a credit card or with cash at the relevant institution (I think Russia Post in this case) for the K-1 visa application fee at the embassy stage: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ru/ru-niv-paymentinfo.asp

Immigration is not cheap. It's high expenses, whether cash, card or money order :jest:

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Thank you, that makes more sense now. For some reason its going to cost me around $280 - something to do with the Russian exchange rate I think. Same thing happened when I paid for a B2 a few months ago.
