How many times do you have to visit the embassy in person?

So my girlfriend and I are planning on starting the process within a year. However, her parents who she lives with are thinking of moving in 6-12 months. She currently lives half an hour from an embassy, and if she moves with them, she would live 5 hours from the embassy. She's debating on if she should stay behind or move with her family for the year that she is doing the process. How much of the K1 visa process requires in person communication with the embassy? The interview? The medical exam? The paperwork itself? Should she stay near the embassy to make the process easier, or is that not going to be a problem to be far away from one? Thanks for any advice!

No one can answer your questions because you haven't filled out your profile so no one has any idea which embassy your're talking about. Everything past the NVC stage is embassy specific, so fill out your profile and make it easier for people to answer your questions. Most people only go to the embassy once, for the interview, some gets two interviews, meaning two trips. There are only a few clinics in each country where you can have the medical done, again we have no idea what country you speak of so we don't know what clinic it is either. The clinic might be in the same city as the embassy, again we can't say because of lack of information. Depending on the country you might have to pick up the medical results yourself a few days later, in other countries the results are sent by the doctor to the embassy.

Assuming no problems are encountered

one visit to medical clinic for medical a few days before the interview date

one visit to the consulate for the interview

All the paperwork  is done by email and post.

Many people are s long way from the consulate. Don't change the rest of life around the K1 process. Too much to be lived while waiting!

I agree. I was only 6 hours away from the embassy and 3 hours away from the clinic where I had the medical done. I was lucky, some have it way worse.

Thanks for the replies! @Scandi, I haven't filled out a lot of the profile because we haven't started the process yet. I added some more info there though, my girlfriend lives on the border of Johannesburg in South Africa currently. Her family is looking to move somewhere in Limpopo, South Africa, though I do not know the specific city yet, though it is very small. Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it!
