The racists marched the streets hauling Nazi flags and torches, chanting, “you will not replace us” and “blood and soil.” They taunted counter-protesters and innocent passers-by.

And yet when their aggressive behavior triggered riots and violence in the streets of the quiet college town, the president declined to condemn them. What he offered instead was a cowardly, irresolute, passive statement criticizing the generic intolerance of unnamed groups.

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides,” the president said in a live statement. “On many sides."

If this generic, equivocal statement was an anomaly, it might be easier to dismiss. We’d hope it was an oversight and we’d wish Trump were more presidential. But we’ve seen this before.

Add to the list him calling the pope disgraceful.

I can't even process all this daily dysfunctional chaos from this little minded man.

The alt right has certainly reared its ugly head.  

 

Emboldened by the election of Trump, we are starting to see more and more people come out of hiding to voiciferously, politically, and physically spew their bigotry towards others. No, Trump may not necessarily side with such views as theirs , but he has accepted their support, voiced inflammatory remarks against Mexicans, Muslims, and women himself, and has NOT done what a true example-setting leader should do: make a point of specifially calling out and denouncing such hate, as Obama so eloquently did in a tweet (yes, believe it or not, he uses Twitter too).

 

It is my hope that what happened in Charlottesville opens many more eyes and changes minds for the better, because it's recent events like these that I am ashamed of our "leadership", our country, and, for the first time, I am actually ashamed to be white.

 

And I really do hate feeling this way.

Nope, he twice denounced these groups, as I cited in this very thread. 

 

If he was in any way supportive of these movements which often are overtly anti-semitic, it would make no sense for him to have such a close relationship with his daughter, son in law, and grandchild.. all Jewish.. and Democrats. His relationship with his daughters, and their overt support for him despite different views and parties, also blows out of the water any idea of him being misogynist as well. 

 

Lots of invented vitriol by people throwing fits over someone they didn't want to be President winning anyways.

Yes, the alt-right and its sympathizers are feeling empowered to "take the country back." Back from whom we can only imagine, since the country has not had a leader since Obama left. I don't believe there has even been a more divisive person than Trump in the WH.

I have been ashamed of the leadership of the last president when there was BLM going out protesting and rioting when nothing was said or done about it by the President. While lately there have been recent protests that have turned violent due to the ANTIFA  crowd coming for scalps. You need to get outside the bubble of San Diego and see how the other half live in California. If you do that then you would be amazed because a large amount of rural Californians both White and Hispanic love Trump. That has been my experiences travelling across California for work.

 

You can be ashamed that you are white because that's how your side likes to live. You want every white person to be ashamed for who we are in this country, I am not ashamed I am white at all.

I get what the other poster meant by being ashamed, but I agree with you, except that people need to understand there is no reason to be ashamed or proud of the color of their skin, because it makes them no better or worse. Race is a construct that found a sect in this country.  

 

There is far more scientific evidence to global warming than there is to the existence of race, and yet, people believe it.
