On March 8th our case was sent to the Department of State. Which NVC group would that put us in, March or April, because we haven't been given a case number yet and I don't even know if they've received our case? And apparently we have to contact them to get the number, right?

Hope everyone is having a fantastic day! Quick update. Called the NVC and I was told the timeframe up today is 8 weeks (NVC received our documents March 14th)   I really hope that’s from March 14th and not from today.

Have a bless day you all!

It is from the date they receive your case. Mine was received on the 16th. Alos checking other posts in VJ, it seems like pivot cases are taking 8 to 11 weeks approx. and the "normal" cases are taking 5 to 8 weeks. I'm expecting ours will be around first week of may.

That’s great to know we’re getting there! Is your case pivot?

Mine was send on the same date. Just go in the current April NVC group. If you haven’t got the welcome letter by end of the month you can move to the May NVC group. But at the end of April the April NVC group close anyways and the May one opens up.

... to be continued

I do not believe there is separate form for this.Write a cover letter with your I-130 application for expedite request with showing documentation why it is necessary for expedite on following ground;

So, we received NOA2 on Feb. 28th, six months after NOA1.  NVC received our petition on Mar. 7th.  We received our NVC case number yesterday, Apr. 17th.

In case anyone who is waiting on their case number is wondering, here is the instructions we received along with our case number:

Step 1: Choose an agent (please allow up to three (3) weeks for processing before continuing to Step 2)

*Note, in this step, you just have to go to ceac.state.gov and fill out DS-261, which is basically putting in the phone, email and address of the agent (which is the person who is taking care of all the paperwork, whether it be a lawyer, the petitioner, or someone else).

** Note: the confirmation page after completing DS-261 said the following: "Next Step

Please allow two weeks for NVC to process your DS-261. NVC will then send you an invoice that includes an Invoice Identification Number that you need to pay your fees. When you have that number, you or your agent should return to this website and, after signing in with the Case Number and Invoice Identification Number, pay the fee(s) due by clicking Fee Payment and following the instructions."

Step 2: Pay fees online at ceac.state.gov (allow up to one (1) week for processing before continuing to Step 3)
Step 3: Submit visa application form online at ceac.state.gov
Step 4: Collect financial documents
Step 5: Collect supporting documents
Step 6: Submit financial and supporting documents in one package to NVC
