Hi gang.

I'm trying to help out a guy who's intent on bringing his filipina here to the states on a K1 visa.  But I'm stuck.  I don't remember when we had to do the DS 160 form or how we paid or how much or if we had to send it or not.  I think we did it online though when I did it for my fiance (now my wife), but I don't remember how it fit into the process.  Can anyone help me out?  Brain fart on my end.  I remembered everything else but this.  Duh!

Thanks guys and girls.

Doug

Hi!

Probably best if he joins, second hand info raises potential problems.

Have they met?

I don't know if it's the same procedure there, but here in Jamaica, I went on our us embassy site and searched for the link to the ds160 portal. It's a form that's filled out online. It's a lot of personal information so it's best if the person is there to give you the info while you do it. After it's complete, you will need to upload a passport photo to the document, then you will be instructed to print the form. He will need this printed out for the interview. You will also get instructions to pay a fee after filling out the form. All the best to your friend and congrats on successfully going thru the process with your wife:-)

Also, please note that the ds160 is to be filled out by the beneficiary, it is not for the petition. And it's filled out after the beneficiary receives the case number and word from the embassy that the case is ready. The ds160 needs the case number to proceed

I-129F petition > USCIS approval > file sent to NVC > file sent to local embassy > K-1 visa application stage

At the K-1 application stage, the beneficiary needs to complete the DS-160 and pay the current visa fee that's $265. This is also the stage where she'd undergo medical and the petitioner needs to send affidavit of support + supporting documents to the beneficiary.

That's the cliff note version. Best to refer to http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide.

He needs to use the current I-129F form: https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f. G-325A is no longer needed with it being incorporated into the I-129F. Current filing fee is $535, to be paid with a check or money order drawn from a US based institution.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.
