Hi,

I'm about to give birth to a baby near Mexico City. I'm a US citizen, my husband is Mexican, we have all our paperwork together. Does anyone know a) about how long it takes to get an appointment for CRBA (it seems I can't set 1 up before the baby is born), and b) how long it takes for all the paperwork and passport to come through?

She is due Sept 8th, and I'd like to go visit the US mid to late October, but it seems like that might not be enough time.

Thank you!

a) check there system or email them. You have 18 years to complete the CRBA, so no rush on that part. But if you want to travel soon, once the baby is born, I would email them in your case.

b) Paperwork and approval is 30-60 minutes. CRBA certificate 1-2 weeks. An emergency passport another 30-60 minutes, a regular passport 3-6 weeks.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...
