Twitter Wouldn't Remove Abusive Tweets, Activist Painted Them On Company's Doorstep

“The statements I reported weren’t just plain insults or jokes, but absolutely serious threats of violence.”

Twitter has been a breeding ground for hateful trolls since its inception, and because the company isn’t making major strides to fix this problem, one activist decided to send a powerful message.

A German-Israeli activist/comedian, Shahak Shapira, headed to Twitter’s corporate headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, and spray-painted some of the hate speech he’s encountered on the social network. 

He’s uploaded a video of the protest on YouTube titled "#HEYTWITTER.”

but oddly enough when fools get out of line here, people scream censorship. Censorship is not good. If you find something offensive dont follow it

um, did you see the tweets we're discussing? i'm all for knowing exactly who i'm dealing with, so if i see someone here say 'burn the jews' or something like that, i'm not going to try and censor them but i'm going to remember they're a racist pos and deal with them accordingly in the future.

i don't think it's in twitter's best interest to allow this type of behavior to run rampant. if a complaint is filed or a particularly vocal racist is brought to twitters attention via reporting, they should have a procedure for looking into that claim.

anyway, if i were a twitter user and i was getting harassed by someone who wanted to kill all the white girls, i would hope twitter would look into my compliant if i felt threatened enough to file one.

That would go against Twitter's MO.. they happily engaged in censorship of views they don't agree with -- shadowbanning. One of the reasons I deleted my account a few years ago. First Twitter's shadowban blocked non-followers from viewing certain content (such as Breitbart, DC, Milo, etc.), then their shadow bans just started preventing everyone from seeing their tweets. There's far better alternatives like Gab.ai (last I used it, which was like a year ago) if one must use social media.

again, twitter should have a firm policy in place when dealing with trash that say things like what was tweeted in the video. the vast majority of twitter users do not want to see tweets about burning jews or killing muslims off or eradicating black people. like iamx mentioned above, if that's the type of stuff you want to talk about, join stormfront forums. go join the local kkk and chill with them. if a racist wants the right to scream about killing others or silencing others via burning/bombing freely, they should go find a social media platform that caters to social pariahs (who often think they're edgy and holier than thou for not being politically correct - political correctness draws the line way way way ahead of racist cretin)

A little off topic, but I find it comical that anyone could get banned from social media sites like fb that are fairly lax and let a lot of things go. You gotta really be special to  get canned from fb.

i don't know about fb. i've had friends that have had their accounts suspended on fb for some really ridiculous stuff. just regular art even, fb is all over every single report they get but i don't think they ban often. that's the thing, milo got suspended from twitter permanently and twitter really isn't that strict, so you know he had to have said some pretty foul things/incessantly harassed certain users. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-intersect/wp/2016/07/21/what-it-takes-to-get-banned-from-twitter/?utm_term=.e426646ebfb9

I know someone that got suspended from FB. Oddly enough he got perma banned here

unless you make your account private tweets are public and anyone can look them up. twitter is a more public format than fb.

 

its pretty easy to get perma banned here, pretty strict.
