Hi guys, my interview is coming up and i just wanted to share our love story with you guys so that I can get some feedback and pointers in preparation for the interview.

Please let me know if you have seen any red flags and how I should deal with it during interview.

I'm 24 (beneficiary). I now work as a reporter  and my fiance is 26, and is now an engineer.

HOW WE MET: We met as children. We grew up together in the same community here in Jamaica  before his dad filed for him and he migrated  to the US in 2005 at 14years old. We then reconnected on Facebook back in 09, and communicated as friends until we started a relationship in 2011. We have been together for 6years and 7months now. He has visited me 7 times. His last visit he was July 14 ( last month) and he spent a week and a half. We have lots of pictures together.

I have not visited him in the US because I do not have a visiting visa. I applied for one three years ago to visit my aunt ( and of course I would've visited my Buu too) but it was denied. At that time I was in my final year of university and the consular advised me to secure a job after university and try again.

However, my fiancee and I got engaged last year, so we opted for the k1 as my intentions had changed from visiting, to starting a life with my fiance there.

I'll be going to the interview alone, but I've heard that they love seeing couples. Should I be concerned?

Do you see any red flags with my case? What should I look out for? Please share tour thoughts. Thank you guys so much

Thank you so much for your feedback. I really appreciate it 😃😃😃 I don't know the specific reason for the denial, but the consular did tell me to try to get a job after university then try again, so maybe they felt I did not have enough ties to my home country to be granted a visiting visa. At the time I only had one semester left in university, and when the consular asked what I'll be doing after university, I told him I'll be job hunting. So maybe that's the reason, I'm not sure.

I see no red flags. In fact, looks like a solid relationship :) Don't worry about your B2 denial. Getting denied due to inability to demonstrate strong ties back in one's home country is common. It will not affect your K-1's outcome.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

may be they could be asking you :

- why did you not get married in your country? why get married in the USA?

what is his shoe size and his pants size (I am not teasing you and please do not take me like this but some people have been asked such questions they want to know how deep you know your fiance).

good luck to you , I wish they approved you

Good love story :) and i don't see anyyy red flags and you are good to go....

In 2010 I was in the UK and then i met my wife (then just a chat friend) in a chat room and our relationship went a long way and in 2014 i wanted to go and meet her but my visitor visa was denied. In 2014 i was in Dubai for work and my girlfriend had come to meet me all the way from US to DUbai just to meet me. That was our first meet and we also got engaged :) and in July 2016 we started the K1 process and put in allll the documents together and i was worried about the previous tourist visa denial at the visa interview...but honestly that didnt change anything...

Visa interview was great. I was nervous but the Visa Officer was good. He asked a few questions and i was approved ! and the rest is on my timeline ! :)

Again.....All the best for your interview
